Everyone must know of the matrix 3d from Mike Glass. At neat fair I saw mike glass's giant matrix and it
inspired me to build a "clone" of it. It will be fully blue-core and will be 56" wing by an 59" body. I will
probably use one of these cheap motors, i heard there pretty good...Well, first I need blue-core to build
it [

here the motor i'm thinking of

calvino,
If you are looking for a plane for your wing????? Looks a lot like the wing of a beginner. Try to post the link not sure it will work.
diy ( homebuild ) rc modeling plans ; boats, airplane , planes, heli 's , helicopter.mht
Checked and it works. Just cut and past it. Good Luck. Hope it helps.

Wow been a long time since this thread started up. And a long time since my first Nasty build.
Anyhow decided it was time again for another Nasty. And this one is different. First off instead of the usual fan fold, I used fan board. Same blue foam and covering, 4'x8'x1/2"size, to make this one, can easily get four maybe five out of one sheet.
Talk about strong. Wow.
As I said it was different. May I introduce the Nasty P-40. Only colors I had laying around were camo colors, and once installed they just didn't look right on a non warbird. So what to do?
Xacto, sanding block, and 15 minutes later I had a P40, and just to add to the difference, no Flying Tigers version. It's the Kiwi version.
And now thinking about it the Nasty would make a good foundation for just about any single engine warbird, little cosmetic work and you could easily have a Jug, 109, Zero, or with some more modding even a Corsair.

, updates on the plane, LOADS OF WING FLEX[:'(], have tried those thinkies that people make kabobs with, no luck, will try filamant packing tape, if that does not work, then I guess it is down to carbon rods[&:] ($$$$$) tips, suggestions... at this point I am thinking of cutting the little polyhedral stuff off, prob helping alot with wing flex...

Falcon,
I cut blue foam with a box cutter (interchangeable blades).
I do the cutting on a piece of 1/4 thick glass with a straight edge.
I usually make the cut in 2 passes.
I mostly use 5 minute epoxy and high quality mylar tape for assembly.
I use spray contact cement for large laminations.
sometimes I throw in some gorilla glue for overnight stuff.
Ive been a modeller for 35 years and have not done any hot wiring yet.
I have been doing a lot of different vacuum forming lately.....
Here is some of the stuff Ken and I have come up with......

Very nice set of plans. Might be a good one to attempt this winter, for me.
Found a sheet of what appears to be Depron, laminated on each side with hard clear plastic, in the dumpster.
Built a quasi Mugi out of it. How tough is the foam? Took 6 launches and 6 nose dives, as in looking like a quivering stop sign, before I realized the prop was on backwards. All it ended up with was some grass stains.
Next up, over the weekend I built an F4U Corsair. Boy the wing was a bear to get right and make it strong. I'll post some pics later, still have to paint and finish the electronic install.

Here's the Cosair so far. 47 1/4" WS. 490 gr empty airframe, 850 gr with electronics all onboard. Converting this from a full size, I didn't take into accout how big and heavy the engine was in the real one. She was way tail heavy. Had to move everything electronic wise to the front to get her even close to CG. I add the LG and finish cosmetics tomorrow and maybe even get paint on her.

I never thought about the engine being heavy and causing a CG problem. Have to make a note of that in my Cosair file.
Been recovering from a total hip replacement for the past two weeks. Just getting around good enough that I might work on some of my fff projects the rest of the week. Getting close to finishing the B2 I started several months ago.
How did you build your wing?

You guys are the next generation of the blucore flyers.
I started out with the guys that started the thread............."I bought some fanfold now what to build with it" or some thing pretty close to that. lol
Nice to see minds creating.
Keep up the good work guys!
There were some pretty important guys that started the blucore craze. Nice to see the tradition and creativity going strong.

Happy to see this thread get started. I am an American retired and I now live in Nong Khai, Thailand. We have a small group, 5 or 6 fliers and 2 of us are avid builders. No hobby store here, nearest one is in Udon Thani and you could fit his entire inventory on a small computer desk. We do have a shop that sells sheet foam, and a local stationary store is carrying some balsa wood and xacto blades.
So foamies are the natural build for now.
I was searching the internet for a project and came across this website http://moleski.net/ULTBIPE/index.htm for the Ultimate BiPlane, I emailed the owner, Marty Moleski, ( a Jesuit Priest) and he sent me some 3 views that were in a DWG format, which means I could import them into my AutoCad Program. (doesent everybody have AutoCad?) After about 2 days, I had a scaled set of paterns for 18", 27" and 36" wing spans. I headed for the foam store and the only thing they had that was suitable was 5mm sheets 39 1/4 x 23 1/2 inches. 5mm is approx 3/16 so I set forth building the 27" version.
The plane flew well, had unlimited verticle, and was fully aerobatic. I needed to know it's weeknesses so I put it through 10 minutes of high speed tumbles and snap rolls. On one pass I noticed that the wings seemed to be misaligned and the plane seemed to crabing sideways. I landed yhe plane and examined the failures. The fuse had broken fore and aft of the center strut and the only thing holding the tail feathers on was the servo linkage.
Back to the drawing board, made some mods amd went into the second build. WOW, what a performer. This plane is for the advanced flyer, not recommended for a beginner. It will hover, do tail slides, tumble, snap, all the pattern manuevers, what a delight.
It takes 1 sheet of foam and a length of flat carbon fiber 10mm x 39 1/2" that I have mailed to me from Bangkok, I used 4 E-Sky servos, a 30 amp DualSky Controller, a GS Models brushless outrunner C28-30-12 with a GWS 1047 prop and a 3 cell 1000 mah battery and a 4 channel Futaba Radio
When I figure out where I can post the files (DWG is not supported here), I will do so, but in the meantime, anyone can contact me at [email protected] and I will email the files.
Note: You don't need Autocad, there ane several free DWG drawing viewers available for download, and you can print them out 1:3 for the assembly dwg, 1:1 for the motor mount which also has the canopy outline and whell fairings for those inclined, then take the assembly dwg and have it enlarged 300% for 27" wingspan.

I built 2 of the prototypes, both had identical failures and have 2 new versions flying, with 3 more under construction. The 2nd prototype was being flown by a friend and met it's demise yesterday. Poor thing had so many patches on it, really needed to be retired anyway. The planes cost 300 Baht to build, Carbon fiber being the expensive part at 190 Baht, foam 55 baht, glue and xacto blades. We use a colored taoe for the color schemes, it is thinner than scotch tape, almost transparent. The Thai's call it OPP tape, not sure what it means or who the manufacturer is, but it adds color and is pretty light if you use it sparingly. 300 Baht = USD$8.95 at today's exchange rate.

MartyPetriSr,
I have a free CadStd program I downloaded to view and draw. I am not very good at it. The F-15 files are not mine but ones I downlaoded from sites like parkjets.com and others. The files I posted are think are all pdf. If anyone needs the free program I can post where I found it. It is in one of the parkjets.com pages I think.
I like your BiPlanes.... I have not been into BiPlanes much so I have only a few files, 23 inch and 40 inch Ultimate BiPlanes being two of them.

MartyPetriSr,
I am unable to reply by e-mail so I am answering here. I am not sure which F15 you are building. If it is the simple I have no build guide for it. I used a B21 motor on mine. It was under powered when I placed it in the mid wing as instructed, because I had to go to a 6 inch prop. I moved the motor to the rear with the 8x4 prop and it was fine. I never finished the F-15 full body build. Still out in the shed in parts. AJ built one, I think his was EDF. I am attaching the build guide for it, if it is the one you are building. The build guide is for a pusher. It has charts for different motors. I think based on the chart the B21 would have worked on it. I just never got around to finishing it. It was above my skill when I started it and I never have gotten back to it. I have a lot of plans downloaded and there are a ton more I want to download. If I can help get you a plan I will be happy to post one. I have been so busy since the first of the year I spend very little time building or flying. Miss it a lot, hope to be able to get back into it more one of these days.
I did get a Micro Mosquito Heli to fly in the house. Having a blast with it.
