I sucked in for the videos but, volume 7 has a good portion that was already included in an earlier volume........so, as time goes on, they just sell you the same stuff over and over, just in a different order. So, I've had enough of the DVD's.........I sent in my payment with a clearly written "BIG" note saying not to send me anymore.....I would not accept them......and I also wrote in the note that I had discussed this with the mail carrier and was told I could refuse them....no problem...but, the Post Office considers that type of stuff bulk mail.....junk.......................when I refuse them, they take them and throw em.
Well, they are still sending me DVD's.........and I refuse em........and the Post Office is throwing them away.............I kept a copy of the note I sent cause I figured this was going to happen.......I'm not paying for them........they were told what would happen.
How on earth do you stop the AMA from sending the things?..............I know I'm going to get a bill from them, or they will try to add the charges to my dues or some such crap....
this has the potential to turn into a real mess. Let this be a lesson to everyone.............

Man they are still sending me letters, envelopes, and other things wanting the first DVD back. I swear they have spent more sending me return envelopes than it could possibly have cost. And if you do send them back what do they do with them anyway? I would say throws them away if not they probabaly have way more 1st. volume CD/s than they can deal with.

I received the first video and thought id received it by mistake. I had not heard this was being done by AMA.
I had full intention to take it to the post office to send to the rightfull owner. When i realized it was for me I then veiwed it.
Mine was also scratched as some have mentioned. I think they are re-sending the returned dvds out in new containers.
I have not received any letters wanting payment. I dont see why i would. The letter that came with the dvd said it pretty clear,
(If you dont want future videos, dont send any money). It gives you the choice to keep the video as a gift,
or send it back to them a no expense to me.
What AMA did is in no way illegal. They have not demanded any payment from me.
If its a wast of peoples time to drop it back in the mail box if you do not want it, Then why spend minutes or hours of precious time complaining about it here.

My problems ended when I threatened to personally sue the ama officer responsible for harrasment if I didn't get off the mailing list. Funny after that one certified letter I never heard from them again.

I received the first one they did. At least I think it was the first, along with a coin with the Mustang on it. I was amazed at the studipity behind this. I wasn't mad at them but did get annoyed when I got several letters later asking me for payment. I'm sure they have to be losing money on this but could be wrong. Seems that if they have all of these great things to market that they could do just that instead of ending up probably giving 2/3s of them away. I had honestly thought that they gave up on this program but they obviously haven't. Good part is they stopped sending them to me after I refused to pay for, or return, the first one. Maybe they thought the new generation had never heard of the law stating that if you receive anything in the mail unsolicited you don't have to pay for it or return it. Maybe some had never heard of it and paid. Either way, it's a very bad idea and whoever came up with it should have their continued participation in these matters scrutinized carefully. It would be interesting to read the Federal Mail Fraud Laws and see what, if any, violations this caused. I'm sure it wouldn't take too much to google them up. Oh, there they are....
MAIL FRAUD DEFINITION AND PUNISHMENT
Whoever
1) having devised, or intending to devise any scheme or artifice to defraud,
or
2) for obtaining money or property by means of false or fraudulent pretenses, representations, or promises, or to sell, dispose of, loan…
3) something of value or some item…and
4) places in any post office or authorized depository for mail matter
5) any item to be delivered by interstate carrier
shall be fined …or imprisoned for not more than 20 years, or both.
Here's a better one....
Receipt of Unsolicited Merchandise
A company sends you a gift in the mail--a ball point pen, a key chain, a tie. But you didn't order it. What do you do? If you are the type of person this company is looking for, you may feel guilty about accepting the item without paying for it. Don't feel guilty! It's yours, and you are under no obligation to pay anything.
You, the consumer, may only legally be sent two types of merchandise through the mail without your consent or agreement:
Free samples which are clearly and conspicuously marked as such.
Merchandise mailed by a charitable organization that is soliciting contributions.
And in these two cases, you can consider the merchandise a gift if you wish. In all other situations, it is illegal to send merchandise to someone, unless that person has previously ordered or requested it. These rules are codified in Title 39, United States Code, Section 3009. That section of the Postal Reorganization Act of 1970 incorporates these protections for American consumers and makes the mailing of unordered merchandise unfair methods of competition and unfair trade practices under the law.
If you do not wish to pay for unsolicited merchandise or make a donation to a charity sending such an item, you may do one of three things (in each case, by law, you have no obligation to the sender):
If you have not opened the package, you may mark it "Return to Sender," and the Postal Service will return it with no additional postage charged to you.
If you open the package and don't like what you find, you may throw it away.
If you open the package and like what you find, you may keep it for free. In this instance, "finders-keepers" applies unconditionally.
Furthermore, it is illegal for a company that sends you unordered merchandise to follow the mailing with a bill or dunning communication.
If you are aware of violations of the federal law prohibiting the mailing of unordered merchandise, or if you have personally had difficulty with such items--especially if you are sent statements demanding payment for the merchandise--you should contact you local postmaster or the nearest Postal Inspector.

I'm not posting this because I want to complain but rather to be informative for those folks who are still receiving them. I knew they had violated this when I received the first one. The simple matter that they even ask for remittance or that the words "FREE SAMPLE" aren't all over the packaging is a violation. If anyone has any doubts about any of this all it will take is a quick call to their Postmaster at the local Postal Center to find out. I'm a member of the AMA and support the organization because of the insurance they offer and the "organization" they give the sport. I don't therefore, want to cause their demise or watch my dues go to the Government in the form of a fine.

Fella's I am not a liar and Red I don't take kindly to you trying to make me out one. I don't have to scan and post a darn thing. The have sent me several envelopes stating pay or send back. Then at the bottom it also says your under no obligation to do so. Not everyone on the forums knows how to scan and post stuff and I am one of them. I just learned how to post a pic off my PC on here. You know if there were just one of us saying this it might give some credence to your stupid post. But there are more than one so i suppose all of us are lying. I throw this stuff away as i do with any JUNK MAIL i recieve. I don't really care if you believe me anyway. Who do you think you are? Your a nobody that try's to jump into everyone elses business becaues you have no respect for anyone. To call a man a liar on here and that is exactly what you did would get your Butt kicked rather severly if you were to and I am positive you would not say that to my face. You don't know me or anything about me so Mr. unless you have some proof of your own that I lied about this then keep your mouth shut.
Also see that your a moderator and will probably delete this post but I at least know you will see it. Can't believe a Mod. would call someone a liar about something they have not a clue to. If your that interested then give them a call and i am sure they can see how many times they have sent me letters, return envelope and or asking for payment. 4 different times i think maybe 3. Once a month but have not gotten one this month yet. Maybe they figured it out.

I received the same type of letters and the same treatment on here and personally I couldn't care less what these people believe. If they are members of the AMA they received the same things as the rest of the membership and are aware of the truth. BTW Under the new "Forum Guidelines" posted by RCKen, should the mods be insinuating that the folks in here are liars??

Joe I don't see anyone treating you out of line. Some people just appreciate the fact that the AMA makes an effort to provide them with a free DVD. Which you can either keep, throw in the trash, or send in a payment if you appreciate the effort. Some people just see their effort as .... something else.

AMA could have spared a lot of grief and stood to profit substantially if handled correctly. They chose delusion of grandeur as some sort of big business deal instead.
MA could be used to advertise all of their outlandish promotions a lot more cost effectively without getting our hackles up. This particular episode reminds me of a Lucy plan to sell groceries.

Kid I am one that actually believed you, because I know about the letters from my neighbor that has got them. I just thought it was a good idea to post something with them in it to keep the others at bay an not be called a liar

Again, you underestimate the AMA ability to see things from a different point of view.

I underestimate nothing. I haven’t made any estimation at all! I think it is you that estimates incorrectly once again. What I posted can stand by its merit regardless of what your feelings are.

Hey LCS-
Excuse me for butting in on your private chat with the wall, however, you (we) may have underestimated the real potential of this marketing ploy. Perhaps the real product is the mailing list of individuals that sent their $$$ in for the unsolicited merchandise. Now this kind of list has got to be a more valuable commodity to peddle than your garden variety list of members of a hobby association. It is pre-screened to include only what the hucksters are really after: "Hey y'all look at this! These suckers will buy anything you mail them!"

Anyhow as funny as you put it, I think you are 100% right. The AMA weeded out those who do not want to be in the program moving forward, but at least all the members, at the very least, got a free preview. Gotta give them some credit for at least doing ... something. But seriously, when was the last time you received a phone call or sent something that wasn't from a direct partner of the AMA? It's not like they are selling your information to a stock broker. Although sometimes I wish they did.
