the landing gear must be strong
i've just got a flycamone v2. gonna see what its like stuck to my funjet tomorrow as long as the wind stays under 25mph.
i flew it in 30mph wind today and it was crazy quick on downwind passes.

Looks good Sol.

There is something strangely addictive about filming your flights eh?

jumpmonkey,,,,

Yes the landing gear is strong,It's a good job with my poor landings,But i'm still learning and will get there in the end(i hope)

You'll have to put the results on youtube and send the link on here so we can all watch,I might one day purchase a Flycamone2 i need to see some more results of it first
(i don't like flying in the wind,to scared of crashing)

Mongrel,

There is surly something addictive about filming my flights,Somehow it's teaching me with flying,I see my mistakes and try to improve,as i'm still learning and trying to land the plane as i should and not crash,I've had too many[:@]

also i like to share my progress and if anyone wants to buy a certain plane they can watch the video and see the way it flies,I do it all the time before i buy one,I'm picking up my space walker II tomorrow, but it will be some time before i have it ready to fly,The electrics are quite expensive so i'll do it a bit at a time[8D]

i'll post footage as soon as i can get hold of a better editing program then movie maker (it's creating artefacts in the video).
i don't think it will look as good quality as yours stu, because i need to re-sample the video to a lower res. for youtube.
you can definately tell there is more detail on the v.2 and the pivoting lens is great. things i dont like are the bright spot in the centre of the frame, the sound, and mine has switched off once in flight and also stopped recording video (audio only) after about 5 mins flight.

gotta admit i'm not a fan of flying in the wind either but at the moment its that or don't fly[:'(] having said that though, my funjet is barely effected by the wind other then being slower into it and faster with it behind. with the wind behiind it yesterday it had to have been doing about 100mph. the turbulent air coming through the trees isn't pleasant though!

SOL - I know how you feel - I try and film just about every flight!!

JUMPMONKEY - If you are having problems with your FlyCamOne2, you need to upgrade the firmware. I know this because I am a distributor and I had the same problems. You can find the firmware updates on my website..... http://www.mongrelgear.com.au

Yep - is a piece of cake. You did identify your model first I hope?

You should find it will work far better now, and you also have some other options added like Low Res recording. Why?? I dunno... they thought it was a good idea!!

Hiya guys - just dropping thru as usual. Rules of filming (1) don't take wife/girlfriend to video you (2) Check all servos to make sure they don't bind (3) Don't crash in front of the World or your wife. Here endeth the lesson..... enjoy a good laugh, see me crash....

I bought the 4 channel version recently. The rudder is very flimsy and the motor controling the ailerons is temperamental. There also seem to be serious problems with the reciever as sometimes, all the control systems don't work at all, and others work independant of the radio transmitter. I have not even got it off the ground and am contacting the manufacturers (art-tech). Otherwise, it looks good and I cannot wait till I get it in the air.

Mongrel,

I see what you mean about the quality of the flycamone2,very clearI might buy one one day:P

It's nice to know i'm not the only one who crashes in trees(nice vid though)

Where i fly there are many surrounding trees but they are at a safe hight to fly over them,But there are two trees together and a bit higher

They seem to be like magnets[:@][:@],I finished my cessna off at the base of one and landed my Red Arrow in one,Its not easy to avoid them[&o]

So now i make sure i fly far away from them now[8D]

I like your website BTW

Solostu - the problem with the Slow Stick was a sticking rudder servo, giving it a constant spiral effect. Did I hear that right, Mongrel crashed? Nay, never - he's been on the BBQ/beers thread slagging me off cos I crashed my EZ* a few times, but he doesn't tell us about his anti-gravity experiments with the ground!!! Oh, how the mighty have fallen (from a great height) - he who casts the first stone etc... and Blessed are the Cheesegraters........been watching Life of Brian too much.... see ya soon......

STU,

It still surprises me how easy it is to miscalculate the distance to a tree. I think it is one of those unsolved mysteries that I reckon will turn up in Unsolved Mysteries on Discovery Channel!
Thanks re the Website!!

TAM - I never said I don't crash... I was commenting on the fact that you crashed an Easy Star. The plane that will fly if you fart in its general direction... (Hmm another shameless plug to Monty Python)

Cheers

Mongrel/Tam,

We all have to crash in a tree once in a while, there wouldn't be any fun in flying if we didn't ,

Mongrel,i'm not up to scratch with the Easy star, and haven't seen the crash,so i can't comment on your view[8D]

did you both see my fatal crash in a tree??(worse than yours Mongrel)[:@]

but... i have managed to do some more flying since the crash and had some great results

well if you haven't watched my crash yet, here it is[:'(]

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=rN6-uNpx20E

funny when i'm looking up the tree wondering how i'm gonna get it back down[8D]

Sol,

Nice crash mate!!

An Easy Star is like a glider. It is harder to get it down than it is to get it up!!

Mongrel,

I'll have a look on youtube and watch a few vids of the easy glider,

Oh it was a good crash, lol,it sounds worse when you can hear it all

nothing the Epoxy couldn't handle

Since i upgraded the RX and my TX i have much better results,I'm almost ready to do some aerobatics,

Shame about the weather at the moment gale force winds

Mongrel,

http://www.remote-island.co.uk/Categ...atic_Plane.htm

3 channel?

i think it might fly the same way as mine?but as you said,it flies by it's self, can do much gliding with this plane and very easy landings

Solostu - a really nice vid, till the crash. How did you get it down? That Sapac flies well for an EDF, is it stock or modded? And its funny how Rochdale looks better from the air (thats a Rochdale joke between Stu and myself!!). I've only been tree'd once in a Glasgow park at 5am!!! The Stryker got stuck 40ft. up and I tried 3 days to get it down - the local NEDS (Non-Educational Delinquents) had it down in 5 minutes, stripped and scattered. I salvaged the main fuse and turned it into SonofSatan (piccy) with a new b/less and 1300 3S - verts like hell. See ya soon......Auntie Cyclone is here.....

Hey Mongrel,,,

Not bad at all some very nice flying there[8D],i must get a new fuse and get the cessna back up in the air

But this time i won't mod the landing gear,i'll keep to the original[8D]as i'll be landing on tarmac,

Keep it up with your vids

Tam,

With that video of the crash,it was a stock setup,it really didn't fly the way i wanted it to,I was trembling like hell(after nose diving at full throttle)i think it's about 1min 15 on the vid,it did it by itself

So now if you look at my other vids on youtube the flying is much better,

I have modded it now,First thing i changed was the RX,i think the reason it nosed dived was because it went out of range,The RX(stock) used a mini crystal,it was either faulty or just short range,

I also upgraded the battery (to a more powerful one)and used my Futaba transmitter instead of the stock one,the range is far better now and very stable flights now

so the only stock items i have on the plane now is the motor and the servos,

yes i agree about Rochdale looking better in the air

Talk about DIY your plane looks so ugly[:'(],lol, but if it flies well, good on you you've done well to create a monster (that flies well)

Get some vids made of it flying
