Default battery hold downs

I am building a 3d foam airplane. Is it necessary to use plastic ties on the battery and receiver or will the velcro be sufficient to hold things in place. thanks 85236

You can use a velcro strap. I got mine at Office Max.

I use velcro from Walmart. Foamy 3DX with 8 cell 2/3A battery pack. Battery is under wing with one piece of velcro on battery and other on fuselage. No "straps" just flat velcro. I also put a small strip of velcro on battery pack to hold ESC in place. Receiver is velcroed also. No problems even with aerobatics.

Most of the ones are attached with velcro.
I will do mine that way as well.

All the ones ive seen are just velcro'd. If your using li-po packs It "might" be a good idea to use a tie strap on it to prevent it from getting thrown from the plane and possibly damaged.

IF your flying above grass I wouldnt worry about it, but if youll be flying inside a gym or outside on hard surfaces (a parking lot for example) you might want to add the tie strap to the battery pack just in case.

You could get a long, thin strip of Velcro and epoxy the center of the strip to the plane. Then place the pack on the strip, and join the ends over the pack like a seat-belt. Make sure the ends overlap by an inch or so. Best of both worlds. You get more security, but you can still remove the battery without replacing plastic ties...
