Zagi brushless battery question
Finally decided to upgrade my Zagi XS to brushless........
I have a Mega 1615/4 and a Phoenix 25 ESC on the way......Yipppeeeee!
How do you think these will do with the stock Zagi 1800mAh 8 cell pack??
If I were to switch to LipO, what pack or set up do you recommend??
Thanks for any help.

RE: Zagi brushless battery question
First of all it will do fine with the stock pack. Going brushless you'll notice a big difference in power and endurance.
However, Lipolys are nice for a lot of reasons including light weight.
If you don't have some program like Motocalc I would suggest getting one. It is really invaluable for the electrics. One good possiblity would be a 3S1P battery such as a Thunderpower 2100 (one of the new high output batteries). However, they are only good for 21-25 Amps continuous so you would need to be careful with prop selection. I'm not sure if it will fit, but the Thunderpower 3S1P 3200 would eliminate your current draw concerns and give you all the flight time you can stand.
Zagi talks about Lipoly batteries here: http://www.zagi.com/index.php?main_page=pqs_selec.
Good luck and have fun!

RE: Zagi brushless battery question
Yep...read that...thanks
I'll fly it with the stock battery for a bit and then maybe order a 3s down the road.....
or would a 3s2p be better for longer flight time while still getting the speed and power?

RE: Zagi brushless battery question
A 3S2P versus a 3S1P will give you twice the battery capacity (and flight time) for any given configuration (i.e. 2100 mah versus 4200 mah).

RE: Zagi brushless battery question
Exeter,
I've flown the XS with the Mega 1615-4 w/ phx25 esc. This is a great set-up! The stock 1800 pack that comes with the XS/Tazz works pretty good. If you want a pack to bridge the gap between the stock pack and the Lipo's try an 8 cell pack made up of FAUP 1950 NiMH cells. This is most likely the best pack for the set up you mentioned, short of getting into Lipo's
Happy Flying!
