Default Activator for Oderless CA/Depron Foam?

I'm about to start construction of my first foamy (Adrenaline 3D). The instructions call for oderless ca & activator. The wording has me confused. Is there a special activator needed for foamies, or will the standard "Kicker" type stuff suffice? The foam is Depron & I don't have any scraps to test it on. Thanks.

Nothing special, just different name for kicker. A lot (all?) of the foam types used in planes don't really have that trace amount of water that CA needs to start the reaction to set up. So some kind of accelerator is needed to help it along or you might wait all night for it to dry!

Thanks much Trog. I tried the first glue joint & it went perfectly.

Some brands of kicker/activator will attack some foams. Sounds like you have a good match

darrolcady.com has a aerosol activator that lasts a long time at a great price, not to mention that it will never evaporate. [8D]

what ever you do, dont use the ZAP brand kicker it will eat right through the foam...dont ask how i know! (melted about 2 inches off a shockflyer aileron...lol)

the bob smith kicker works fine though, and there are a couple other nockoff brands out there that offer "foam safe" kicker.

personally i dont like the aerosol type kicker, it sprays way to much at once and is hard to control where it goes.

Yeah, be careful if you are using some that doesn't say foam safe, if you dont have any yet, get some that does specify that it's foam safe. I got my Foam Safe CA and kicker from here:

Want the cheapest?
How about water. Put it in a spray bottle, and use it.

Put a little baking soda in the water. Works perfectly.
