Flatouts!!!!
I am still waiting for mine. Why do these manufacturers advertise stuff they can't get out for 6 months. I ordered two from TH but they just don't come. They keep pushing back the date.

free advertising.... right here in this thread...good, bad, or indifferent...the name is mentioned. That is Golden to GP!
If I were you, I would call GP and ask for a check for starting this thread and advertising their product even more

RE: Flatouts
This is why I went with hobbylobby.com . I wanted a flat-out but seen the release dates pushed back so my reaction was to go with someone else. The Judge should be showing up in my mailbox very soon. Thanks hobby lobby!

I am a very good HL customer myself. I know I have already put someone's kid through college up there in Brentwood TN. I just happen to love the Matt Chapman 580 paint job. I have bought two HL Yak's and BL motors. They are great!

RE: Flatouts
I helped with the Memphis Indoor flyin and saw one of these fly. I have had mine on order since mid April. When they flew it at the flyin it was all stock equipment. I plan on putting the brushless stuff on it, not because it need it but just because i want to. It flew VERY well with the stock brushed motor.

RE: Flatouts
The Cap580 is a nice kit. The low wing configuration is a little weak. They should have made it a mid wing like the flatana. It would have been more durable. The hinges work great, but I think its more work than they are worth. Over all nice , but I think this will be the last one of these for me.
Just my opinion............SPUDs out

RE: Flatouts
Well I got a Cap 580, put it together and put on only one flight.
I am not a 3d'er although I would like to learn a few manuevers.
It flew without any CG or power issues
I was very dissapointed in the test flight. Oh the power was adequate with the stock set up and a 3s1p 880 lipo, however I could not believe the amount of wing flex with the wings bowing upwhat, looked like a couple inches in the turns.
Also there was a great amount of flutter and twisting back and forth at the wing tips resulting in "control reversal" several times
I rreally wish there was a way to get my $40 back as I am not pleased with this kit at all
I agree that the hinges are a pain and I wish I just used tape as usual
I took the radio off and hung it up, perhaps I may try it again "IF" I get hard up for somthing to fly, but it is going to need a lot of reinforcement

RE: Flatouts
I just put one together for my friend and test flew it for him. I was a long build for a foamy, the 3 hours on the box is nonsence.
He went with e-flite brushless motor. I did not care for this plane at all, as mentioned earlier the wing flex in flight is terrible, overall the air frame seems very weak. When I turned it over to him his landing was a little rough and the wing came right off. My fancyfoam would not have had a scratch. It was the matt chapman by the way. The hinge system could be considered cool if only tape didn't do just as well and is much simpler. Seems like this plane was way over engineered just to be different and they still got it wrong.

RE: Flatouts
Yes the cap has severe flex in the wing,, as they said it can be seen from a distance! it also flutters alot at the tips., not a good flying plane, has severe tip stall problems, mine will not harrier at all. heavy for the size,, not pleased. im gonna build my own off 3D batix plans, i know this cap isnt for long.

RE: Flatouts
I recieved one last week. I have to agree with the flutter problems. It also seems to have a great deal of wing loading, tip stalls very badly. Cannot harrier at all. Also, a great deal of wing flex. It's a pretty plane, and I did like the idea of not using tape for hinges. It does knife edge wonderfully, but hovering and any other "slow" manuvers are a chore to say the least. In "abrupt" manuvers I have snapped the wing twice. I had a Jude from Hobby Lobby previously. I doinked it in so I went for the flatout. I was throughly dissapointed. I'm going to get another 6mm depron plane and leave the flatouts alone.

Read This First Before Buying
Here is another little glitch. If you think you are going to use GWS servos, forget it. The servo arms only fit 3 servos and GWS is not one of them. Gluing the servo in place is not a good idea ether. I now have servos embedded and cannot connect the linkage. Great Planes has no solution other than !QUOT!why didn't you use the suggested servo!QUOT!. Because I have the others that are compatible with all the other stuff that I own, thats why. I am not a fan of this new micro connector stuff.
