I too have started building the wombat. Started cutting the foam out tonight in fact. This plane is very very similar to the typhoon 3D I recently built and unfortuneately also crashed on its maiden.

ive been lazy.. I just can't seem to get going on a build.... I got the wombat plans printed... but I don't feel like tiling them together with tape... I may just go to kinko's... or look at the plans and just measure out something close to it... the shapes are pretty easy to duplicate with a good ruler, and t square

glue them to posterboard, then cut them out, it makes it easier...

Yes, I got the simulator version for G3 and liked it so well I decided to build one. Having no plans for it, I started sketching and cutting and eventually completed one. The wings were a bit too wide, the fuse a bit too short, but the plane flew pretty good until I lost control of it due to what I think was a receiver glitch, but could have just been me.

Anyway, I still want to build another center wing plane like the typhoon 3D and the wombat resembles it very closely, so here we go again.

ahh yes, this is not a hobby for the light wallet. I have spent several thousand dollars buying planes, parts, etc and I have friends who spend ten times what I spend on it.

Maybe we get a few people to donate something to the cause. If you will PM me with your address, I will donate a receiver, a couple of servos, ESC and a 400 speed motor. You will have to find a 27mhz transmitter to match.

Goff, I am running into the same problem.. I am 14 and i am happy building planes, but most of the planes I build dont evan get a madien. The only thing I can tell you is look for good deals and maybey by some non hobby grade planes on line teke the electronics out and build something with them.

look into gliders. you can use a cheaper battery, charger, and skip on the speed control and motor.

hit your dad up for the money.
thats what I used to do.
Tell him this ***** is important to you and he needs to get onboard.
Remind him of all the crap you could be interested in like drugs or whatever and he will come around.
My dad was great to me and I will thank him to my grave.

Flashsolutions,
Your offer to goff is very generous and saying it is a great gesture is an understatement.
This reinforces everything I've ever said about 99.9% of modellers being genuinely great people and will help others if they can.
Kudos to you and may all your landings be soft.

Chris.

Hey guys. Well I have been quite busy. I am coming back to Texas after my journey through Yellowstone. I first want to say thankyou to people like flashsolutions. I too am trying to manage my hobbies and my life. I am 15 and need money for other things. Luckily I have a job with my dad working on computers so that helps out, and as canuckflier says may all of your landing be soft.

You are welcome.

In retrospect, I probably should have encouraged you to ask your father if there was something you could do around the house to make a few extra dollars so that could learn the value of money and such.

I was mowing lawns and delivering newspapers at your age to earn money to buy models which was my hobby at the time.

Those of us who fly regularly at the field do give away parts and such to each other and ask nothing in return. I think that these forums are also a great way to share our experiences and give something back to the community.

If just one article we write saves someone from crashing a plane or helps to build one better or cheaper, it has served a great purpose.

For all of those budding young pilots like yourself, I hope you will continue to share your experiences and learn all you can. This is a great hobby albeit an expensive one. I have talked with guys who have been in this hobby over 40 years. It must be one heck of a hobby to be able to hold your attention for that long a time.

I'm not sure. I think that we were close to that area now we're at the flaming gorge in Utah.

Wow I have been off this forum for a bit I see. I am looking for the flipper plans again and went throughthe first 30 pages with no luck. Anyone know where they are? I really want to build this plane bad. I built a f-15 and love it. It is very slow and fun. It rolls in a snap. I will post pics when I find them again. Kevin

Hello to all...... I have been out for a while. Busy with work and sports with the kids. See a few new names. Haven't had time to read and catch up. Started working on the B2 again ( for those who remember ) Figure I have forgotten what litte I knew about how to fly. I have Vista now and do not like it. Just figured out tonight how to get FMS to work on it. Going to start learning again. About got a store bought Hellcat ready to fly. Putting a nose gear on the B2 and then I will be ready to find th CG and try a flight. At my pace now that will be 2 months. Any way just wanted to say high. And goff101 good luck with the UFO. I have got to build me another one. It was a blast. Mine is in the LHS and there have been a few building it. Great plane.

Here are some pics of the F-15 I built. I think I made a tread for it but been too busy to remember my name lately. Anyway it is BL with a fiago/3s lipo/CC berg esc and 3 futaba servo's. It is a ton of fun and handles 7-8mph winds with no problem. I never tried it in any higher winds yet.
