Hashem,
It will take me a while but I know I have some of the plans you have listed. This weekend I was busy with my son playing soccer. I have meetings at work tonight and tomorrow. Work has kept me busy before and now that I am getting well I am back at it. I will do my best as quickly as I can.

LT
best regards.
I'm waiting!

Here is a real jerk right here..
read this story...

http://www.ocregister.com/news/ufo-o...ntified-flying

He is building Geobats and selling them for $1000 and claims he is the inventor of this design.
Jack Jones in Newnan Georgia is the real inventor.
He should be paying royalties to Jack.
This guy could give them away and no one would care!
Jack has been developing this technology for 18 years!

Ones like that make it bad on all the rest of us. I have a lot of free plans I have downloaded and will give to anyone “FREEâ€. I have had some at the LHS ask me to build them a fff plane and sell it to them. I give them the plans to build their own. I will not build and sell a plane I downloaded the plans for “FREEâ€.

I have come up with serveral variations to the geobat in my head... but I would never try to build it and call it my own.. thats just rude...... If I was gonna try to sell something I would want it to be a complete new design with no obvious similarities to other planes....

that thing looks just like a geobat minus the double fuse ...

Atzanik,
My first build was the Edge 540 from 3D Foamy, almost 2 years ago. Have not left fff since. It is the best thing since sliced bread.
For your first plane, it is very good. As far as paint... I am not that great. But then it's not the paint that makes it fly. And for flying... I am still rough at it. You looked good.
Try the Nasty and Big Nasty. They fly better than the Edge. The Nasty can be found at the start of this thread. Good Luck.... Hang out here whenever you can.... You will get all the answers you need to build fff.

Hashem,
that is not a GeoBat. It is a control line model of a flying saucer from the 60's or 70's.
Its also not a foamie plane so it's a little off topic.
It stinks constantly having to defend the patented name and wing planform that is known as the GeoBat.

Thanks for the kind words. I'm going to check out that Nasty and see what it involves. I'm still pretty shocked at how well this foam plane flies. I thought it would be alright, but I didn't think it would be this good. I'm surprised at what it's able to do compared to my Cessna

Atzanik,
If you like jets look up the F-15 simple and F-14 simple. They are fun jets, easy to build and fly great. The world of fff is just great. If you don’t find the plans I can send them to you. In the past year I have used a whole bundle of fff. Having a blast.

Hello my name is Tony I read Pecanpatch's post ---I finally got the Geobat plans converted to a PDF file!
I am building Booboo1 a Geobat now and using it to photograph a build manual.
when I get that done I will post Them in a new forum for all to download.--
Tell me where the forum is.
Are you going to be available for build advice?
I am a fan of the design.
Thank you in advance.
I would like to build either a spad coroplastic, or a foamy blue or pink foamcore.
Depron is too expensive here.

For the plans
Image resize is no problem.
I use Linux so the formats that are available to me are dfx,gif,png,jpeg,bitmap.pdf.

I am going to start getting servos, receiver, carbon rods. ready

Hey spad,
Yes I will be available for build advice. In fact, I have been putting together a build manual with what little free time I have.
I'm taking pictures for the manual as I put together a GeoBat for a friend.
I havnt posted/started the forum till I finish the manual (hang in there)

(here are some of the build pics)

Jumper,
I love the paint work you did on the flying lizard.......

did you lay some expanded metal on the foam and spray bomb it?

nice effect!

3d Flyer Kevin-- nice position on the hovering 540 Edge.
I am starting to read this thread from the Geobat post backwards.

I learned to hover on a SPA3DT . Buckets of broken 12-5 apc props.
Have you ever had a little kid sneak up behind you scream with joy and grab your plane. out of the air.

I did. I now fly in the desert. Safer.
I am planning to build a tubular coro edge soon.

Pecanpatch, exactly. Expanded metal was laid over the foam then rattle can paint was used. I think it worked well, you? This is the 1st of what will hopefully be a talon (term I coined for a group of Pterodactyls) of 3 Pterodactyl's. When I had a friend who does laser cutting cut the foam, we went ahead and did three to make the vectoring worth while. With the 1st, there is/was first-time-through decisions that will be different with subsequent builds. One obvious change will be the painting that will fade from one color to another instead of the chrisp lines of demarcation on #1. I am now wainting on 8x4 folding props to arrive before finishing this build. Do not want rigid props tripping it up on landing. If it can fly well, it should look interesting in the sky. If we can get 2 or 3 up at once, that will be a sight. Formation flight of Pterodactyls probably has not been seen for millions of years. Video is planned.

You might want to do the more elaborate 80". It is far beyond my skills: http://www.pteroworks.com/pteros.htm

I love to build with flat foam. It is fast, and you can bang out a design to test it out. I love working with 10mm, because it doesn't flex much. A little 1/8" strip of carbon fiber at the MAC, and you have plenty of strength. Here is my latest with my son as co-designer. My next project is a Lipisch P-13a with EDF!
