New Fatty P-38 from FoamFly.com
OK, I got the newest FoamFly Fatty to test build. It is a Cartoon funfly of the popular P-38 Lightning. See www.FoamFly.com for more info.
Final Specs:
* 2x GWS Brushless 2205-15T outrunner motors = 22 oz of thrust
* 1x Castle Creations Thunderbird 18 controller, should need 15.2A@full throttle
* 1200 2S battery
* Spetrum RX
* 2x Spektrum S-75 servos
* 2x GWS EP 7035 props, with aluminum propsaver
* Custom made motor mounts
* Dubro micro push rod system
* modified servo arms for rudder to rudder control horns
* finish is Krylon H20 and sharpies
* 36" of carbon fiber rod
* Hot glue and GWS contact cement
* AUW = 13 oz -- I am a heavy builder, should be less!!

Top Foam and the P-38 in low res 15MB
To mount the motors, I used aluminum screws, and machined the head off flat. Then added a 4-40 tapped hole. I know, the weight, the weight, I can hear it now!! I have a metal lathe in my garage, not a wood working lathe.
The 7035 props have enough clearance, so that worked out well.
Once the motors were all set-up, I ran it up for a few seconds to check things out.

RE: New Fatty P-38 from FoamFly.com
The GWS are working well, even with the 2 motors on 1 speed cotnrol. The only problem I've had is with the motor bullet connections. I cut them off to put betterones on, adn it was very hard to re-solder to tthe magnet wire. Next time, I am just soldering right ot thier bullets.
