Heres one I'm working on (one of many projects) Its a Hansa S5A float plane. Not very far yet as you can see.
EDIT: The first pic is ot my plane and in the others the rudder was not finished when I had it in place. I forgot to finish cutting it out all the way.

Temjung, the plane in the first picture is not mine. I have only gottn this far so far. I will start the wing this weekend....Hopefully! I may start a new thread on it so this one does not get to cluttered. If I do I will post a link.

Blamo, Nice plane any vid?
Heres my latest. Made from foam board with the paper left on. I tried taken pics my self, very hard to do. Escpecially on the maiden.
The other (blue stripes) is another self design and build. I call it the Retro Racer...Heres video for it.

RE: Show us your scratch built foamys
Hi,
well here’s Home Build No.4, another CorFlute construction, this time with EPS ribs in the wing for shape.
I posted the last one [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/fb.asp?m=6345106]here.[/link]
Finished it tonight after many hours on this one, as you do taking all lessons learnt from previous models.
A bit more care and attention has paid off though as this one looks to be the best yet. Wing shape is not perfect but a sound aerofoil exists, something lacking on the last one.
This was helped by adding foam ribs to a dual carbon fibre rod frame, this should make it less flexible as well.
And Landing Gear this time!! The $4 strut I ordered was way too large so I had a lot of cutting to do to lighten and down size it. It was 90grams bare, now just 60grams including wheels. I drilled holes as well, as you can see. I put a lot of effort into making the front strut mounting position strong to handle the stresses of landing and it has turned out good and solid thanks to an embedded piece of 4mm plywood on the floor.
This one sports and larger electric motor (KD A22-15M Brushless Outrunner Motor, 30A TP ESC) and I had no trouble with having enough forward weight this time. I had upsized the plan a little from last time with a wingspan up from 900mm to 1000mm. Fuselage is 50mm longer. Weight turned out about right at 880grams, although a little heavier than I would have liked. As learned from the last one, you can lighten the front design all you like but it is no point as you still have to add weight to balance the tail, and the tail on this one is a lighter design than the last.
I checked the Centre of Gravity and by moving the battery 10mm further to the aft (away from the firewall) it is spot on for sports flying. Moving it back forward is about right for stable flying, so its good to be able to adjust without having to had added any dead weight.
Still, the proof is in the flying so hope to maiden it within the next couple of days if the weather cooperates. They are predicting storms for the next 2 days so not looking great.
cheers

RE: Show us your scratch built foamys
I finished this biplane Sunday. I thought it would be wise to see if it flies before I give it a paint job. Wing span is 36 inch top and 34 bottom. I am using a 3 cell 15c lipo. Motocalc has it at 46 top and 15 stall. It flies a bit squirrelly. It has a strong tendency to pitch nose up as I enter a turn. I added some more down pitch to the motor. Perhaps that will help. Or someone out there may have a different suggestion.

RE: Show us your scratch built foamys
Nice looking bipe.
If it's squirly and pitches up in a turn, it's probably tail heavy. If the cg is on, then it may just be one of those planes that have to have the turns co-ordinated. I.E. put in some rudder when you turn.

Coolbean / Wings 540 - it turned out that the cg was the same (+- 1/4 inch) as the ac. I did not have a good way to get more weight forward so I moved the top wing back 3/4" to get the ac behind the cg. It flies decent now. Thank you for the suggestion. The biplane is now paint worthy.
After three crashes and a few more modifications it flies like it should. The final paint job is complete.

Dunno yet. We'll find out on Thursday. I'm hoping to get 90+ out of it. But as long as it out runs a stock brushless stryker I'll be happy.

[link=http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=3958992329658365079&hl=en]She flew.[/link]
First flight the roll was just way too twitchy, couldn't get the wings level.
5 minutes with a glue gun and she was ready for another try. set the high rates at 50% and the low at 30%. Launched on the high and quickly realized it was still a bit much. Switched to low and it was better. She's a handful, very hard to trim and the trim seems to change with speed. I think I'll lower the aileron throw more and decrease the amount of negative expo I have to get a more gentle but linear reaction. She's faster than the [link=http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-6702112165631871781]broadsword[/link] on the same motor, but quite a bit more unstable. Currently she has a 9x7.5 SF prop, I'll switch to a 8X8 sport prop and see if I can get any more out of her.

Nice video coolbean. What is the motor battery set-up. It looked to be faster than the stock 27C, was it? You were flying through the clouds? The plane must have been more visible than on the video.
I put at pusher plane together yesterday using an old 480 and an old 3 channel set-up. Today the wing failed coming out of a loop. It was amusing to see the foam come down like snow.

Using a himax 2015-4100 6.6:1 gears and a 9X7.5 SF prop, Lipo 3 cell 1500mah. I didn't get any passes that were really good but as far as I can tell it was running at about 75 mph. But the nose was a little busted up after the first "flight", and the SF prop isn't really suited for this application. After repairs and a good 8x8 sport/pylon prop I should be able to push her over 80.
She was a little easier to see in person than in the video.. but not too much, she moves out pretty quickly and is pretty small.

RE: Show us your scratch built foamys
Here are a couple of planes i have been working on. The gray one is a copy of a Super Ringmaster that my grandpa flew c/l a long time ago.
the green one is a cargo plane look-alike that flies on 4 gws 50's and sounds great.
