Guan Li Catalina
Now that a lot of folks have had some experience with the Guan Li Catalina, what is the current opinion about it? Is it worth purchasing? I have read past reviews and am familiar with the bad instructions, missing steps, etc. I assume those are still the case.
Is it still $99? I didn't find it on some of the web stores I went to. Can someone tell me where it is sold nowadays, and whether or not you would recommend it?
I want a seaplane or float plane to fly from a small lake on the property where I live. I tried floats on my Super Cub but it couildn't quite get up enough steam to lift off. I'm not going to spend the money to convert it to brushless, Lipo, etc. I had rather fly it as is and obtain a different model designed specifically for water operation. If not the Cat, then are their other suggestions?
By the way, to those many people who have posted about not wanting to glue the center piece onto the Catalina wing because it covers the wing mounting screws, why not drill acess holes in that piece prior to gluing it on? That way you have the structural support that piece provides to the wing joint, but can still access the screws to remove the wing for transport. Just a suggestion.
Thanks!
