Default Improved Performance of RCU

Seems that RCU's technoids have found the key to getting the old layers of the cake aligned resulting in decent performance. The real deal will be RCU's performance profile when all of the members get back using RCU as their primary RCforum.

Good job.

Maybe they can get the search feature to work. That would be great, I could use it instead of Google to find things on RCU.

Steve - gotta ask - the new or old search? Just tried the old search looking for "LT" and "40" and "bash" and it came up with a decent list of threads. Never have been a fan of the new (?) search tool.

I didn't knowthey hadold and new search tools. I just use the one close to the upper right hand corner of the screenin the orange box that says "search" in blue letters. If I search for "model aircraft starting bench" it comes up with zero results. If I use Google, it comes up with the correct link to the forum in RCU. There are also a bunch of terms in that topic that will be found in other forums, but thattopic will not show up except when searched from outside of RCU. It is like they made it, and everthing in it,invisible to a search from within RCU.</p>

Steve - guess that RCU techs have neutered all search capabilities. Arrrrr

The old search can be access by using the "Forums" tab at the top of the screen (upper left area), select Search (just under settings), then at the upper left area of the search screen is an "old search" link.

SeamusG,

That search is as broken as the Beta version. Neither one can find that forum. I think they will never be able to fix this problem.

They should just put a note at the top of the page like "To get an incomplete, partial, or flawedsearch use the RCU search feature; for a complete, accurate, and usefulsearch, use Google." I would be okay with that.

I would also like to see a remindersuch as:"Copy and save your text before posting, there is a 90% chance it will be deleted when you click OK."

Search capability requires Indexes.
Indexes need to be built / maintained.

I'm guessing that the indexes have fallen into corrupted disarray over time. What good is having good information if you can't find it. The current crop of technoids need to purge and rebuild the indexes from both the thread headers and posts - picking out keywords and populating the indexes with that keyword's location. Boring work to be kind - but absolutely necessary for the use of RCU information.

I'm sure they will never do that, the best I can hope for is a note to let people know where a real search engine can be found.
