The edit window closes after 24 hours. Having posts open to be edited for an indefinite amount of time makes moderation of the forums too difficult.

I just discovered this yesterday. Your statement is absolutely ridiculous. There are numerous (in-fact, most) larger vbulletin sites that don't have any issues allowing it. I seems to me fairly likely that many of the "policies" and "users prefer it this way" type items are simply due to inept admins that can't figure out how effectively manage capabilities on this site.

The whole not being able to edit posts after 24hrs thing is just plain wrong. Every other forum you are able to do so. When you have a build/review/update, it's so much easier and more organized to edit the first post in thread.

It's because our marketplace is a part of our forum. Allowing people to edit posts after 24 hours also allows them to edit their ad after 24 hours. The edit restriction in place to protect users from getting scammed on the marketplace.

yet another reason that the marketplace should be separate from the forums.
