Electric Motors
I am just getting started in electric planes, after many years of glow engines.
Does one have to "break in" electric engines? When I bought a electric powered sailplane, with a speed 600 motor, I was told that I had to put some sort of abrasive stuff on the brushes, run it slow for a while, etc.
I am building a "yard flyer" powered by a 280 motor with reduction gear box. I also have a couple of speed 400's with gearboxes which I am going to put into a couple of ARF kits.
Do these motors have to be broken in in any fashion? If so, would welcome any suggestions.
