Zone alarm went nuts when i uploaded a pic!!
I was just uploading a pic, clicked GO when Zone alarm poped up with a warning, it said www.rcuniverse.com was trying to see my Ebay password as clear text, i.e. not ****
this is what more info showed..
Zone Alarm detected an attempt to send your EBay password to a remote site
Zone Alarm is asking you whether to allow the transmission. No breach in your security has occured. Your personal information is safe.
What happened?
Zone Alarm detected an attempt to send your EBay password to a remote site. The address of the remote site does not match your Trusted Site information, so Zone Alarm has blocked the transmission.
Should I be concerned?
Yes. This may be a case of Internet fraud. Identity thieves can create Web sites or e-mails that look like they belong to trusted e-commerce sites, and trick you into sending your personal information to them. See the Details tab for more information.
What should I do?
If you are trying to send information to eBay Inc.:
Do not send your information. It is likely that an identity thief is masquerading as eBay Inc..
Click the Report Fraud button to report the incident to eBay Inc.. Help keep the Internet safe!
ZoneAlarm supports identity protection for your EBay information only. Coming soon in ZoneAlarm Pro and other Zone Labs products, you will be able to protect a variety of personal information and report suspected fraud to other e-commerce vendors.
TECHNICAL INFO...
Personal Identity Information Description, eBay Password, A description of the personal identity information that ZoneAlarm protected.
Program Name Internet Explorer, A program running on your computer, which attempted to send the protected identity information.
Filename, IEXPLORE.EXE The program's filename that ZoneAlarm identified as the one being used to send out the protected identity information.
Remote IP Address 69.20.56.19 The IP address of the remote computer that caused the alert.
Alert Date Mar-14-2004 05:29:54 AM PST The time when ZoneAlarm detected the alert on your computer.
now i know Marc doesn't like E-bay, but i don't think this was anything RCU did on purpose either.
BTW, that spell checker thing works great.

all i know is Zone alram said that rcuniverse.com is trying to see my ebay password as clear text..
how it knows that, where it gets its info from is beyond me. i've checked for virus's and spyware but found nothing.

they have a bug in their software. I would report it to them and send them to our site to figure out why it is short circuiting. we don't look for passwords nor does the security in IE allow it even if we wanted to do it.
