How is it interfering? Flash Player is a pretty common tool for the internet these days.

all major sites (amazon, yahoo, gm, chevrolet, NFL, NBA, MTV, etc, etc) use flash based ads. Some ads require the use of Flash Player 7 which is in most modern browsers already. If yours does not have it then it prompts you to upgrade or install. No big deal. A simple upgrade will avoid any prompts for the player. We are not going to refuse flash ads from any advertiser due to the fact that it is an accepted standard on every major website on the internet now.

It keeps down loading and then ask me if I want to install it. I don't. I have a small antique computer and I don't need anything I don't specifically ask for. I have low speed connection (dialup) and it stops me from doing anything on RCU until it's done. Quite awhile. My only way of defeating it is to back page and start over. Most of the time I just give up.

Try this. Instead of not installing it let it install. the footprint is likely not much larger then the old version of the player that is already probably in your browser. what browser and version do you use?

I have no bone to pick against the adds, any adds. I actually appreciate them. I have also been inspired to buy based on adds in RCU.
I do go to great pains to protect my computer though. I don't allow (to the extent possible) unsolicited downloads. I don't allow any cookies automatically or automatic opening of email. I want every thing to be conciously accepted by me. As a result I haven't had a virus in over 15 years of being on-line.

Other program on-line request to update programs i.e Acrobat make the offer before down load. What irritated me about Macromedia is they cause you to sit and wait untill after they doun load before making any request. In the mean time I'm frozen out unless I clear the page and start over.

I run explorer 6.0.1, the most recent that will run with Windows 98SE.

I ran a search in my machine and indeed I did find Macromedia (not installed). It came into my machine in Oct 2004. I may have accepted it, but I don't know. I do know to my dismay that it also included an imbedded doubleclick folder. So I deleted evrything and await the next time macromedia attempts to down load. If included with it is doubleclick I'll know what to do.
