Good afternoon,
Recently a post of mine titled: INFO 2 stroke vs 4 stroke vs Gas
was deleted for bumping... copy of the email below:
The message you posted in Glow Engines (http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/tt.asp?forumid=114),
titled: " RE: INFO 2 stroke vs 4 stroke vs Gas" has been deleted.
Reason:Bumping not permitted.
After reviewing the RCU posting regulations I found the following:
POSTING ADVERTISEMENTS:
This is a forum of ideas and discussions. We do not wish to have the readers of the forums overwhelmed with advertisements but realize that posting announcements or interesting new product information is information our members want. To balance this need for information and the need to prevent spamming of ads in our forums, we will allow the following to be posted:
No "sale" ads or graphical ads allowed. This is for dissemination of product announcement, market research or pertinent news strictly.
No bumping is allowed. Companies should use common sense discretion when adding information so they don't aggravate their customers
Full disclosure of company affiliation is required for these posts.
As I understand it appears the no-bumping rule does not apply to common threads but it applies for advertisemente threads
My post was not an advertisement, it was an honest need to know that was answered by only one person and was being buried in the threads, so instead of an answer of :
that's interesting I was honest and bumped it... (in retrospect I should have used the "thanks any more takers" comment....
Anyway is the no bumping a rule for common posts or for advertisements only???

Yes. No bumping is allowed regardless of the type of thread. The rule could be a little more clear perhaps. That said I do see perhaps a need to allow "common" posts to be pushed back to the top if they have zero responses within some set time period like maybe 7 or 14 days. Posts with replies would not be eligible of course for bumping otherwise things could get hairy but for a zero response thread it probably does make some sense. I'll discuss this with my top brass here and see if there are any reasons brought forth why we should not tweak that rule.
