Moderator, how do you become one?

Knowing another moderator certainly helps, but you may submit your name and qualifications to me for review. If there is a spot available in the area of RCU you frequent, we'll consider bringing you aboard.
I'd like you to include what area's of RCU you spend most of your time, why you want to be a moderator and why you think you're qualified to moderate RCU.

wow, so serious.
He's perfect!
I always thought you had to be able to leap whole forums in a single bound, have an IQ of at least 900, and be comfortable handling 20 fires at once.
Yikes! I'm outa here! [sm=surprised.gif]

You forgot to mention that we have X-ray vision too and can't get near Krytonite!
You'd be surprised at how much fun that we have at times. We are not anal-retentive but just like to see people sharing their love of our sport/hobby without others giving them any hassle.

Its too bad people don't understand that being a moderator isn't what its cracked up to be. All this babysitting, editing, posts to constantly look over, problems to resolve... sounds more like a job to be issued instead of being banned.

Some days are better than others. Saturday got weird for me. I came home after working the 3-11 shift and was on here until almost 3:00 AM deleting, moving, editing threads and postings. Without looking outside, I'd have laid out a lot of money betting that there was a full moon.
Contrary to popluar belief, we are not a bunch of anal-retentive people. The people that I have the pleasure to work with are a good group and we are human. The job can be trying at times but I thoroughly enjoy it. I read a lot more than I normally would if I weren't a Mod and in turn, learn that much more about our hobby/sport.

No, I work the 3 PM -11 PM shift. I'm less than 2 miles from work so I was on from about 11:15 PM until almost 3:00 AM. It's not unusual for me to be on until 2:00 AM most nights. The computer is back on when I get out of the sack and sometimes spend a couple of hours on then and hit it again for a little while before I head off to work.
