For some reason (known only to the Gates machine) I can't automatically log in. So I am directed to the log-in page. No problem. But then I have the option to return to the previous page (in a forum). I click on that and I go back to my member page.

Is the link broken?

And yes, I have my cookies enabled - and it automatically logs me in on all other sites!

Try logging out, clearing your RCU cookies and cache (or clear them all out if you like), then try to log back into RCU.
