Why does RCU delete posts if someone is not EXACTLY on topic w/in a thread? That's like saying there is only one way to drive from LA to New York..... I don't get it.

There is some leniency some time. However, the discussion should remain germane to the topic or a new thread should be started. It's better for everyone if that is how the information is organized. Some detours in threads are allowed to continue, however if the topic goes too far off course it should rightfully be returned to the topic the thread originator intended.
