This Morn I got a spam email from startheli ([email protected]). The first line reads "The following was sent to you through RC Universe:".
Why is my email being given out to spammers?

It's not through RCU, there's a thread in the clubhouse or QA sections about it.

PM me with the email INCLUDING the original email headers so I can see where it came from
RCU does not sell or give away its member information/emails btw. We should though since everyone accuses us of doing so and if we are going to take all the heat for it we might as well actually do it and make money on it. That said we have not and it is also against our privacy policy currently in place
The email you got from the spammer is not authorized. I'll need the headers to track them down
The "startsales@hotmail" spammer account was banned on the 7th when we got notice of it btw. Any user can login to rcu and then send via the question or contact forms in the marketplace or forums. Your emails are not disclosed. Closing these off would mean you no longer get messages from anyone or notices. Not worth disabling an important function on the site because of a few bad apples now and then.

For the record, I never thought, or accused RCU of sending this mail, only that it came through the RCU mail system as is indicated by the info on the mail header.

My concern is that your site has been hacked and all of our personal info has been compromised. My fear is that this "start sales" outfit has or will sell all of my personal info to the huge spamming market. All I've seen from RCU is "we didn't do it". It doesn't sound to me like you (RCU) have put any effort in finding out how it happened and how to prevent it from happeneing in the future.
What I personally would like to see from RCU is a sticky notice much like the child actors thread that shows up everywhere stating what this outfit did, that RCU did not authorize it, and serving as warning that this may not be the kind of place we want to do business with.
I have done a copy past and sent you a pm with the email and header info. The pm system is not the ideal for exchanging this kind of info. If someone wants to pm an email address I will gladly forward the actual email to you.
