Photo Errors
Hi everyone,
So we believe that besides some uploading issues stemming from iPad (which is on iPad's end), we've stopped all the photo problems that came with the switch to the new software. Are there any outstanding issues with photos on RCU? |

Well THIS is still a problem in the Gallery.
Comes up with this error message, when none of it applies: "There was an error posting your image. Check the size and make sure it's not overly large (e.g. 1.2Mb or more). Also, make sure it is the correct file type. Many times, a file may say ".jpg" when it is some proprietary file type from your camera or software incorrectly saved with the "jpg" extension. To be sure, just open the file in a program and when you save the file make sure you are saving it in jpg format." |

It's the message you get when trying to upload a picture to the Gallery. It's somewhat strange that most uploads have failed, but some have succeeded.

Photos from photobucket will not upload and screen grab photos will not upload.
For the the love of god, please get the forum working right. |
Viewing Photo's is a much bigger problem, in most attempts they just don't load. RCU was always slower (on my PC) than other forums but has now become almost unusable. Don't have this problem with other Forums.

When posting things "don't work" or load in general, can you please give your operating system and version and browser/version? I am looking into the PhotoBucket problem, as well as other photo-sharing services.
|
For me it doesn't matter what device I use to access the site. My laptop running windows 7 and latest version of Firefox, Chrome, or even the ever worthless Internet Explorer. My iPhone 7 is what I typically use; iOS 10.3.2 (most recent version). And FWIW - the "mobile" part of the site does not work nearly as well as the "full site" option.
If the admins used the forum like the users do, they would find the problems the beta testers are (the users) finding and we wouldn't have to explain everything so explicitly. |

Actually I get the following: " The file you tried to upload is either NOT a jpg or gif file OR it is way too large. Sometimes, files can say ".jpg" at the end, but they are really "bmp" files. Just open your file in your image editor software and save it as a ".jpg". Then try again. You may also wish to try reducing the size of your image (say, to 800 x 600 max) before uploading again. Try Again" |
Yup. Photos in posts aren't visible half the time either. I looked at a thread the other day that had 7 photos in it and only 3 would be visible. Black screen for the other 4.

Here's one example. Pictures 5 and 6 don't show up in my first post with pictures attached.

It happens with just about any post with more than 3-4 pictures attached. The first few are viewable and the rest aren't. Clicking on those image thumbnails specifically doesn't show the picture either.

I was able to view photos 5 and 6 on that post when I enlarged the and scrolled through with the arrows. Photo 6 did not display as a thumbnail, however.

Desktop or Mobile skin on your device? Mobile skin does not handle media super well, but we are working on a new version.

Some photos still intermittently squished when expanded. Check http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/rc-jets-120/11640434-t-3-pics-build-2.html#&gid=1&pid=23. Thumbnails on post #11 of that thread for example.

Hope the administrator reads this. I sent a note to "Contact Administrator" and no reply. I tried to upload 8 pictures like I've done many times before to my build thread on the Pica P51. I get a message that don't have some type of legitimate clearance. I tied uploading from my MS OneDrive and also from my desktop PC to no avail. I uses Microsoft Edge and I have Windows 10. I also can't find info on how to load a MP4 video of my Landing Gear Test and operation. If anybody can give me guidance on any settings or check if I have the correct permissions, please let me know. The last time I was able to post pictures was back in February of 2017. I don't know when the RCU software was updated, but I can see the "manage Attachments section is a little different.

As I didn't get a response in my other flickr specific thread (http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/foru...ing-issue.html) I hope to get some help here as I have the same problem with some pictures being squished, others not and some are put in as attached thumbnails as well. It used to work fine up until a few months ago.
I just posted some more pictures here http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/rc-c...l#post12366134 and cannot figure out what is going wrong. I have windows 7 x64 and have got the same issue using Chrome, Firefox and IE. I don't have this problem in any other forum. Any ideas? |
The Admins pick and choose who they respond to and what problems they fix. Good luck getting any success.

Sorry for the delayed reply. I just deleted the cookies. Same result on all browsers. Some pictures are large... some are thumbnail size (see attachment), some get put in as an attachment in addition to being in the post, others don't.... Before the update it used to be so simple. Insert the Flickr BCCode for the size of picture one wanted to display and that was it. It is a problem I have only had on this forum so it is not an issue with Flickr.

OMG,, this site has become so annoying
As expected my post is ignored,, so I'm trying to read earlier posts to see if a fix has been recommended and the screen keeps re-centering because of this stupid google ad on the right. RCU has become just about useless |
Scale, we cannot replicate the problem you have. Do you have any ad block software or anything turned on?

Try using a standard account - try it from your desktop computer, try it from your smartphone, try it from a tablet. Follow build threads that have a lot of pictures. I'll guarantee you'll find the problem to be quite prevalent. If the problem didn't exist, we wouldn't bother making it up. There are better things to do! Any word on getting the other forum bugs fixed? We are going on 6 months now and the subforums are still uncollapseable. RCTech works as it should, why doesn't RCU? I'd assume they're managed by the same tech people - it seems it's managed by the same staff as this site is it seems. What are they doing over there that they can't do here? |

What's odd about this problem,, if I click the first thumbs or set of thumbs in a thread,,those open (most times),, but almost always if I click a thumb in subsequent posts it looks like this
Attachment 2241110 If I right click and open in new window or tab,, it opens fine |
