Arrow FPV Beginner's Guide:10 Tips to Make Your Drone More Durable (Part 1)

As we all know, it is easy to get crashes when playing FPV drone. Unfortunately, if your drone get an air crash, you need to pay a high maintenance cost or buy a new one. So as a beginner, it is very important to learn how to make your drone more durable.

1.Choose a more durable frame
First, choose the right drone arm whose thickness is 4mm or 5mm. Some racier choose a very thin drone arm for racing, which is very helpful for speeding up, but this kind of drone arm is very fragile. In order to make your FPV drone more durable, there must be a trade-off. Next, choose the frame that can protect your camera and motor, so you can avoid damaging your camera and motor when get crashed.

2.Protect your ESC and wires
When a collision occurs, the propellers may cut your ESC and wires. There are two solutions: first, wrap the positions that are easy to be cut with heat shrinkable tubes or electrical tape; second, use 3d printed protectors to protect your ESC and wires.

3.Prevent the antenna from breaking
The antenna is very easy to be damaged. Because of its special shape, it will be severely hit when your drone is crashed. The most important thing is to prevent the SMA part from bending. Therefore, it is necessary to add a soft wrapping between the screw on the SMA and the antenna lobe, and then fix it with adhesive tape. So that the stress point will be transferred from the antenna body to the wrapping. Such as TPU.

4.Protect antenna lobe
Antenna will lose signal when it is damaged. When it is hit, the plastic shell will break, and then the antenna elements will be damaged. Your video signal will either be greatly weakened, or lost directly. You can put a heat shrink tube on the antenna lobe. When you heat it, it will be stuck to the antenna to better protect your antenna.

5.Fix your battery well
If your battery drops out of your drone when it collides, you can neither fly back in the FLIP OVER AFTER CRASH mode nor turn on the sound to find the location of the drone. Therefore, it is better to fix the battery with two battery straps.

If you can prepare for all the things well, the durability of fpv drone will be greatly improved. I will introduce other 5 tips in the next article. You can share your fpv flight experience in the comment area. Which part did you broke the most? Welcome to discuss with me!
