Default Joystick unit question - transmit frequency

Hi all. I'm very new to multirotor uav, and purchased a pixhawk 2.4.6 (flight controller) kit that came with 915 MHz radio links. At first I thought that I would need a joystick module such as an 8 channel one that transmits at 915 MHz to the uav. But I don't see any 915 MHz joystick modules. I think I'm missing something here. My understanding is that those big handheld joystick controllers are designed to transmit at 2.4 GHz right? So those joysticks won't work with the 915 MHz pixhawk kit radio system right? In that case...... will I need to forget about using the 915 MHz radio system and install 2.4 GHz radio links instead? This is confusing me because I have no idea about why the pixhawk kit came with 915 MHz radio gear when there appears to be mainly 2.4 GHz joysticks being sold out there. Could somebody help out a newbie (that's me) with understanding the situation here? Thanks in advance!
