Default "DIY" Drones Web site

Here's a story about a presentation at the recent AUVSI conference here in San Diego, based on a Wired magazine editor's own "DIY Drones" Web site...seems that this would be of interest to this Forum... enjoy: http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/b...1n11drone.html

If you loved the article you would have loved to go. I had the opportunity and the latest technology is really exciting. On my favorite list are the color IR camera and the Killer Bee UAV with a 40mm granade launcher LOL

see thats the problem I had while a member of DIYdrones. Mabe the terrorist here or overseas may know how to make an autopilot system for rc planes, but if they didn't than now they do... step-by-step.and any kid now can strap a pipe bomb to an rc plane and fly it into their school their mad at and kill people... but mabe im too paranoid. but this could be a whole new way for a columbine repeat... and i just can't be a part of a sight with that much risk just layed out there....so, i took my UAV i'm building and came to this sight and posting the build here now....

Mabe I'm being too harsh on DIYDrones. Chris is a good guy and means well.. Everything is going to electronics anymore, and automated, and unmanned. I still think though, that technology is a gift-not a right. Best of luck to those on that sight.

I'm not going to say don't worry, but if you're worried that the information is going to leak out to the wrong people, it's too late to start worrying.

The technology genie is already out of the bottle. Anybody who can find DIY Drones also probably knows how to google...[&o]

Besides, you don't think there are terrorist students studying Electrical engineering, bio chemistry or physics at our fine universities all over this country? Most of the educated terrorists were educated here in the good ole USA! Like cmoulder said, it's too late to worry!

That’s one thing, the other is the FAA and the manned aviation community. Members of the FAA and the sUAS ARC were sitting in the front row and didn’t enjoy the presentation at AUVSI.
