I have a friend that just bought a 12FG and we are sharing a plane and I have a T12Z. He tried to use the Futaba Model Converter program to import my model file and got the error "This data is saved with the transmitter of an older version of the software. Please update your transmitter accordingly". Clearly I did not have the new 1.6.2 software update so I just installed it no problem.
My question is how do I know if the update process updated all my model files so they can be used with the Model Converter program, or do I have to re-save them all to the CF card, or worse, copy all models from the CF card back to the transmitter and then back to the CF card? Will the older models I have on the CF card be read by the new software?
A few things that tipped me off that this is a problem is that 1. when I saved a model that had already been backed up to the CF card from the transmitter to the CF card it did not prompt me if I wanted to overwrite the existing model file. It just saved it but changed the filename to contain a "-1" suffix, which is not the model name I wanted.
2. the dates on the all the model files on the CF card, even this newly created one, is 1/1/2000 so there was no way to know what was changed, since this date is wrong on all files.

Apparently they do, Bill. Sending my friend the copy of the model that was backed up on my CF card didn't work. This is what gave him the error in the conversion program and why I posted my question to begin with. However, copying the model from the Internal to MemCard again produced a model on the CF card that DID import into the Model Converter. This is the crux of my question and open issue.
Assuming the model files actually are changed, then if an old model file was loaded into a transmitter with 1.6.2 software, would it have any trouble reading it in? Clearly the Model Converter has this problem, so I'm wondering about the transmitters too.
