Default 18mz battery draw with Transmitter off

18mz Battery draw

I have experienced losing battery capacity with Transmitter off
Transmitter was put up with a full charge and after 2 months I went to use it.
Capacity showed 80% lost 20 percent just sitting.
Checked current draw with Transmitter off. It draws .74ma
.74max24hr=17.76ma per day or 532ma per month.
I'm losing about 15% Battery capacity per month.
Have checked this with 2 different batteries an same result. Checked
a friends Transmitter it does the same thing.

What in the transmitter needs the constant draw?? There is a battery for the
clock function. Un pluging the battery for extended times do not disrupt any function.

Is all this normal????? The Transmitter preforms flawless other than the Batter drain when off and love it.

The 12 and 14 z's did not do this.

Thanks in advance for any reply.

That is normal. The design of the 18MZ is such that a small amount of current is needed so that a "hot" start is possible, otherwise, the transmitter would have to do a "cold" start whenever it is turned on. This is explained in the instruction manual.

Bax Thank You for the reply.

The Manual States the following + some.

But if more
than four hours pass after shutting down the power,
the power supply will completely shut down the
internal circuit.

After 4 hours
I and still measure a current draw, it doesn't seem to shut down
also days later you can measure a draw as stated before.

Could it be I have a malfunction or the Internat curcuity.

Thank you again for the reply

We've seen this discharge since the unit came out. If you believe it's not operating properly, you can certainly send the unit in for inspection and possible repair.

Thank You again for the reply, After having the chance to check a third Transmitter and they are all the same I am finally conviced
Its by design.
I have been just disconnecting the battery after each use. No more wasting battery capacity.

When I get to Champaign early next year I will bring it in for a check up

Thanks again

Unfortunately, we're not equipped to take drop-offs at the door. You'll have to send it in.
