Default Programming 7c 2.4 for warbird with 2 elevator servos

I am building a mustang that has 2 elevator servos and am thinking of using a 7c 2.4 radio. I understand that with 2 elevator servos you plug one into channel 2 and the other into channel 5, and use the ailevator function to control them both. I have two questions:
1. which channel do I use for the retracts which usually would be on channel 5, and how do I use the switch that usually operates them on channel 5 to operate the retracts. I believe that I would use channel 7 since that is unassigned so far.
2. how do I power the receiver? I believe that I should use a y connector on one of the channels and plug the receiver battery into one side of the y - would I use channel 7 for this? or 6? or another method?

thank you for your help.

Any slot in the receiver can be used for power. If you're using 7 servos, just "Y" the battery into any slot.

You can change the control that activates channels 5 or 7. Page 28 of the manual details how you can do that. It's in the PARA section of the menu structure.
