Default Safe operating limits

Hi Bax
Was wondering what you might think of operating on S Bus through SBD 1's JR 8711 servos. I will be setting up a 40% aerobatic type airplane (flying IMAC like maneuvers) that may have a total of 10 that would be powered by 2S Li Fe's 5800 mah, that would have a draw of about 400 oz/ servo. And also two more standard servos of 100 oz or less. Would this be too much for an S bus system?

Thanks
Alan

Just make up some 18 or 20 gauge connectors.

Hi Bax
Could you please explain which these connectors would be (Futaba, 3rd party and if so which brand). Also would you make all connections this way receiver to hub, hub to servos, how far would you take it?

Thanks
Alan

If you power everything through the receiver pins, then you will need to insure the wiring can handle the load. You will need to use heavy-duty wires and connectors throughout. If you are providing power out at the servos, you won't need as heavy-gauge wire because your leads won't be as long. You can purchase heavy-duty connectors. Futaba makes them:

FUTM4135 AEC16 H/D DUAL SERVO EXT 6" J US$12.99
FUTM4140 AEC14 H/D SERVO EXT 8" J US$7.99
FUTM4145 AEC15 H/D SERVO EXT 16" J US$8.99
FUTM4147 AEC17 H/D SERVO EXT 20" J US$8.99
FUTM4148 AEC18 H/D SERVO EXT 40" J US$11.99
FUTM4180 AEC20 HD SRVO EXT W/FLTR 220MM US$19.99
FUTM4385 SWH14 H/D SWITCH W/CHARGE CORD US$21.99
FUTM4391 HEAVY DUTY ELECT SWITCH DEANS US$49.99

These parts can be ordered through any hobby retailer who sells Futaba systems and accessories.

HI Bax
Thanks I think this just confirms what already use, and I guess I would just plug in one of my flight batteries into a hub further downstream of the reciever to keep the voltage drop to a minimum.

Thanks again
Alan
