I had something odd happen with my radio this weekend. I had just refueled my Funky 40, started the engine and was about to taxi. I did my usual control surface check and when I deflected the right aileron, I got a FULL deflection of both the rudder and elevator.
Needless to say, I did not continue with the flight. I could reproduce the movement at that moment. After I got home, I tried it again and the elevator and rudder deflection stopped. I checked my rx battery and it was low at 4.6 volts. Could a low battery have caused it, or do I have a bigger problem?? I certainly dont want to fly again until I find the cause.
Thanks
Greg

Hi Greg,
I don't think your battery was low enough at 4.6V to have caused the problem you mention. It sounds more like it may have been caused by interference since you didn't see the same problem at home that you saw at the field.
I hope you find this information helpful. You can also reach our Futaba support technical team at 217-398-8970, or via fax at 217-398-7721.

I dont think it was interference because the unintended elevator/rudder deflections occurred at exactly the same aileron stick position. (full right aileron) I could reproduce the problem consistently. After the plane set for 30 minutes, I tried it and the problem was gone.
If it was interference, I would expect it to occur at other stick positions. Does that sound logical??
