Default Flap programing on T6XAS

I have channels 1 and 6 driving my aileron servos, and when I follow the manual to set up flaps on my bird, a strange thing happens:

The flap knob allows me to raise the flaps above the wing center line.

First question is: Is this normal? Follow Up: How do you fly with the proportional knob, not knowing when the "flaps" are in the centered postion?

2nd question: How do I set the flaps function to have the flaps/ailerons at their neutral position when the knob is at one end of its throw - and as I turn the knob, the flaps lower?

Thanks.

Tom

Default Flap programing on T6XAS

I found the answer on the Futaba FAQ site that is mentioned through out this Futaba area (www.futabarc.com/faq)

If you were wondering - here is the answer:
***********************************
How do I turn off the top half of my channel 6 knob so my flaperons can only go down, not up like spoilers?
Elevator/Dual Rate Switch will be in the down position when this is in use.

1. Go into PMIX 1. Master will be on channel 6, and the Slave will be on channel 6.
a. Turn channel 6 knob all the way left. Put in -100% (now the ch 6 servo does not move when the knob is turned from center to the left.)
b. Turn channel 6 knob all the way right. Put in 0% (ch 6 servo continues to operate exactly the same from center to the right. If you want more, or less, throw on your flaperons than on your ailerons, you can adjust this % here. For example, 100% will give you exactly 100% more travel than the aileron setting. If you want less throw, -50% would give you exactly 50% less travel than the stock aileron setting.)

If using flaperons, must also do this mix:
2. Go into PMIX 2. Master will be on channel 6, and the Slave will be on channel 1.
a. Turn channel 6 knob all the way left. Put in +100% (now the ch 1 servo does not move)
b. Turn channel 6 knob all the way right. Put in -0% (note this MUST match the % set in the mix above)

This allows the channel 6 knob to turn right and move the flaps down. Turning the knob left past center will now do nothing (it is disabled from moving left).

CAUTION! Your Pmixes are turned ON by your elevator dual rate switch. Therefore, for your flap knob mixes you just made to be active, you must have your elevator dual rate switch on at all times. REMEMBER THIS or you may be surprised by not having enough elevator response in flight, or having your flaps suddenly set to a strange setting because you moved the elevator dual rate switch in flight.
