Default S3050 slop...

Opened a brand new S3050 today to put on my edge and when I wiggled the arm I noticed some gear slop, I assume this isn't an issue? Just makin' sure.

Default RE: S3050 slop...

All gear trains will have a very small amount of extra movement. It's called "gear backlash", and is needed to allow the gears to smoothly mesh with each other. In most servos, it should be barely noticeable, but not show up in free movement of the servo arm. If a new servo has enough free play to allow visible movement on a control surface, then it's bad, unless it's a really, really low-end servo.
