I am doing some indepedent performance testing on some of the latest servos. I see some of the high torque Futaba servos specify use of Ni-CD batteries only. Can you give the reason for that?
For convenience of rapid mounting I am planning on clamping the servo in place with a C clamp. I plan to use an aluminum plate between the clamp and the servo to spread the load and help dissipate the heat generated. The servo is to be placed in a pocket and just enough force exerted by the clamp to keep the servo from popping out of the pocket. Will this type of mounting over stress the case and effect the torque reading?.

HI dirtybird,
The reason for the warning is that the servo can produce high-current draw from your batteries. If you are using NiMh or Li-Poly batteries, make sure they are capable of delivering sufficient Amps to the servo.
Just make sure that the heat is dissipated well enough and you should be fine.
I hope you find this information helpful. You can also reach our Futaba support technical team at 217-398-8970, or via fax at 217-398-7721.
Sincerely,
