I am curious as to Campac modules. Are the 9C and 9Z Campacs the same?
I have a Campac from my 9C but it will not work in my 9Z even after erasing it with toolpac.
I also have a 64k campac that will intialize in my 9Z, but I can not access any of the extra models. They read "not used". If I copy a model to one of these, it will copy. Once I turn the radio off and back on, it wants to re-initalize. this same Campac when used in the 9C goes straight into a service menu.

Hi Gary,
The 16K 9C campac and 64K 9Z campac are not the same internally. Futaba cannot recommend
anything other than the 16K campac in the 9C.
I hope you find this information helpful. You can also reach our Futaba support technical team at 217-398-8970, or via fax at 217-398-7721.
Sincerely,

I was more concerned with the 64k for my 9Z as my 9c is working fine.
If my 9Z Campac does not work, can I still get a new 64k considering the 9Z has been discontinued.

I am sorry I misunderstood you Gary, no the 9C campac will not work in your 9Z, it will not read it.
We are hoping to have 64K campac at some later date, and although the 9Z is being discontinued we will still be offering parts, repair, and support on it for the next 5 years at least.
Thanks, and good talking to you, Krysta

You may like to look [link=http://www.spartanrc.com/]here[/link], the retail outlet for Model-Gadgets. I've used several of their 256k CAMPAC clones in the past with complete success. This variant is configured as 4 x 64k CAMPAC banks. To change banks you remove the CAMPAC cover and push a tiny button on the module to cycle between the 4 banks. On a 9C each bank provides an additional 24 models from 9 .. 32, for a total of 8 + 96. Each bank provides an additional bank of models 9 .. 32. The 9C cannot use all 256k of memory without this 'bank'ing or paging scheme.
If 24 extra models are enough, then you don't need to use the paging scheme and it works just like a 64k CAMPAC.
The good news is that it will work with both the 9C & the 9Z where it provides an extra 4 x 16 models depending on complexity. It's a well made unit and they have proved reliable in use.
Although this may sound like an advert, I have no connection with the manufacturer other than as a happy customer.
