I had my first crash last weekend. My instuctor said the radio battery had gotten too low. Neither of us checked it because he assumed I charged all night before. Anyway, I go a new plane and put the radio equipment in and it will not work. When I turn the switch on I have no control. The servos twich a little, but nothing. I don't know if my radio is the problem, the onboard battery is bad, or what. Help!
I even bypassed the switch and plugged the battery into the receiver and nothing.
Odd thing is when I turn the switch on and off with the battery connected, the servos move slightly in the same direction until they reach full throw and then they just sit there and twich as I turn the switch on and off.
I have a skysport 4 with a FP-R1270F receiver and sanyo batteries.
Set came with the RTF Avistar I purchased.

Sounds like your transmitter is not on or your crystals are not installed. Check to make sure that your receiver crystal is good after the crash.
I would recommend that you take a drive to Americus, Ga and visit Hodges Hobbies. Mac can help you out a lot.

Had a guy from the local club going to Macs today and picked up a crystal. I had taken it to his house after my post and he put his crystal in and it worked. He and mac are good friends and both very experienced with R/C. I have found them to be a great resource.

I have not met anyone in the hobby that is friendlier than Mac. During a contest my 1/4 plane chewed up his wife's garden. He told me he would handle it and not worry about it. He also has let me use his shop on one occasion to work on my plane. Great guy!

I agree. I am glad he is around. There isn't a hobby shop in Albany anymore. The next closest thing is Columbus. Mac is very resonable in the shop too. You might find something a little cheaper on the web, but by the time you ship it it isn't and I like supporting local folks when I can.

twilli,
Please be sure to check your system carefully before putting it back in the air. The receiver crystal may have been the only thing damaged in the crash, but other components could also have been affected. Range test your model with and without the engine running to make sure you don't have any other problems.
More things that the obvious can be damaged in a crash.
