Default 2.4 antenna and the $2000 14mz?

I spend 2 GRAND on a radio(14 mz), supossedly, THE best radio. Then, they come out with the F.A.S.T. system. So Futaba comes out with the 2.4 module with an attached antenna to plug into the Tx. Why does this set-up have to be soo UGLY? Why can't they use an ordinary looking module and either the stock antenna or an antenna that plugs into the factory antenna location?

You cannot use the existing antenna for 2.4 GHz transmission. It is completely the wrong size. You cannot use the existing antenna mount because there is circuitry inside the transmitter that is not compatible with 2.4 GHz transmission. There are just some things you cannot do. The physics will not allow it.

If they used an antenna that fitted into the existing antenna location, they would have had to use an external cable to carry the signal from the module to the antenna, just as a different maker has done. This would not be the best way to do that because it adds several failure points along the way. The antenna built into the module is actually the best solution.

I can't imagine many people doing that with their 14mzh (me included) and screw something up. Besides you still have a wire extending from the module to the antenna. As Bax stated another possible point of failure.
