3pk speed controller compatibility
Hey all. I just got a 2.4ghz 3pk in spite of the spektrum deal - but it was a hard choice, lemme tell you. In the end, the HRS system is what sold me. Well, that and the 3pk feels incredible in my hand. What is unfortunate is that the cover over the transmitter module feels insecure when put in place. I expect incredible design/manufacture tolerences when I spend 400 bucks on *anything*.
So here's my question: what brushed speed controllers are compatible with HRS mode? The 3pk won't enter HRS mode with two speed controllers - the duratrax intellispeed 8t and the older, but nonetheless good Novak Fusion.
I don't want to go brushless at this point. I just bought a bunch of stuff this last two months and I don't want to drop the additional bones right now. I just want an HRS compatible brushed speed controller...
Any suggestions?

There is no list of speed controls that may not function when your system is in HRS mode. There are so many units out there that it's just impossible to test them all. Basically, newer, high-quality units should be used...ones that are compatible with digital servo usage.

I have some more information that may or may not confuse the issue. I pulled my old XXX-S from the shelf to test components through swapping them out. Here's what I found:
When I swap out ONLY the stock XXX-S speed controller for the Novak Fusion, the Fusion enters setup mode with no problem. When I swap out ONLY the stock XXX-S receiver with the R603FS, the 3PK and the R603 control the car just fine (I do have to switch the steering servo to reverse)
When I try to use the Fusion with the R603FS, the Fusion will not enter setup mode.
I tried to use the Fusion with a receiver from the HPI Savage (AM, basic receiver) and it would not enter setup.
I tried to use the Fusion with an R133F and it would not enter setup.
Oddly, I cannot get a Duratrax Intellispeed 8T reversing to enter setup with any of the Futaba gear, either. I have not tried the Intellispeed with the XXX-S to verify that it is working, but I suspect that it is OK - it is brand new from the box, too.
What would keep the ESC's from working with Futaba gear, and is there a workaround?

I ordered a Dynamite Tazer 12T and an Associated AI Pro Brushless/Brushed controller. I'll see if these have issues, too.
