Just got this new and can't figure out, does it have a built in timer like my old Hitec so I can tell how long I've flown? thanks.

No, the 6X system does not offer a timer function. The 8U, 9C, 9Z radios all have multiple built in timers.

Although the radio doesn't have a timer, it is a very good radio until you exceed it's capabilities. I like mine but I went to Walmart and bought a $10 count down cooking timer. My only problem is remembering to start the thing! The radio w/o the timer isn't really a problem.

For about $5 at Radio Shack you can get a timer about the size of a quarter that attaches to the front of the TX with tape. It is easy to remove if needed and the residual glue cleans off with alchol.
It counts up or down, I have one on all of my TXs and love them.
