Post the markings on the cylinder and you will probably get your answer.

I believe it's an old Sachs, but old enough to justify getting a new engine. She's seen some tough times.

Looks as though it needs a new set of spider webs?

<div><div style="overflow: hidden; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); background-color: transparent; text-align: left; text-decoration: none; border: medium none;">Sachs casting numbers (if it is a Mahle cylinder) are:
40 - 2.6 ci
44 - 3.2 ci
47 - 3.7 ci
49 - 4.2 ci <span class="info"> </span> <span>

</span></div></div>

Its an old T&G, probably a 4.2. It has CH ignition with TCSA. The 6 bolt pattern is an oddball one and you will NOT be able to get a single bolt adapter to fit, unless you make it.

Yes the Spider webs are going to be updated in the resto I'm restoring this bird for a widow whos husband flew in the 46th squadron off the USS Enterprise. He bought this plane and never got it flying before he passed from cancer. If the engine has any value or capability we want o get it out of it via sell or use. the plane is a 100"ziroli skyraider and I'm sure it isn't enough engine. The jug number is 057/2B, 8 or 6 it is hard to tell. the inside is clean and lots of compression. making a new prop hub or a drill guide is no big deal.

At 5.8 it probably has the power for the Skyraider when flown scale. If the plane is within the 55lb AMA limit the engine would fly it.

Hey thanks for the confirmation on the 3.4 size. so tell me, how reliable an how powerful is this engine in comparison to it's lighter rivals out there right now. it was on a 35lb mammoth scale Skyraider that has a 120"WS. the plans call for a 3.1 kawasaki engine.Seems quite small for a bird that size. and weight. can anything be done to lighten the sachs for a more modern aerobatic plane, and install a 4.2 on the raider?

Muffler has TG cast into it. is this engine worth putting any investment into it?

Might want to mention it will provide limited flight performance and require excellent energy and aircraft management. A 4.2 would be better, while a 5.8 would be more than enough.

I fly a 34 pound Ziroli Skyraider with a Quadra 75. Good performance from a great engine. While the plane would fly with less power, I wouldn't care to fly it with less. A 4.2 would fly it just fine too but I believe the Q75 is a few hundred RPM stonger.

Don't be afraid to put some HP in that plane and don't worry about the engine weight. More weight will probably be a good thing as you'll just have to add lead otherwise.
