I bought this engine a few days back, I didnt give a whole lot for it. The man I bought it from thinks its a Sachs 3.7 or a 60cc it weighes 6lbs and 3oz. Ive looked inside of the piston and it looks brand new and the outside is very clean aswell, this engine doesnt have much run time on it from the looks of it, but who knows? Please look at it and tell me what you think it is.

It looks to me as might be a husky, it has the gilrooni cylinder same as the poulan 60cc it even looks like one of my mufflers. It could be one of carl orbisons conversions.

I have a poulan 60 and it is not made like that

Wow, 2800 grams for a 60cc. I got a Turnigy 52cc that is 1583 grams with the cdi unit. Power to weight of yours is not great.

The first picture you posted had the mag in the wrong place for originally on the poulan the mag is placed in front of the cylinder. At least it was on mine.

This is a really good engine IMO.

Mine doesn't have a mag on it it has cdi , I always cut the case and used c&h ign. The husky engines used the same cylinder and crank and such as poulan, both brands made by electrolux. But they phased out the gilrooni cylinders.

If the mag is mounted to the cylinder it is a different saw

I don't remember the model of the ones I did. I know they made a lot of different ones. I have done probly 75-100 different poulans and huskys stil have a few.

My son has had mine for about 4 years but I remember it looking more like the last 60cc picture you posted.

Ok so what you guys are saying is that this engine apears to be chainsaw conversion? am I right? If so what prop size should I try and run on it? I havent run it yet and would like to try.

Ken, what do you feel this engine is worth? I paid 40.00 for it, just took a chance on it.

If it was cut down and the mag and flywheel removed and a cdi ign put on it would lighten it a lot. It makes a nice engine with plenty of power at 40.00 depending on how much wear is on the cylinder it would be worth doing. As for the way it is and no more than I know about the condition it may not be worth much more, the muffler is worth the 40.00.
