Top Model is always slow at replies. I don't like dealing with them just because of this fact. However, I've heard that you'll most likely get your engine before you get a reply. I've heard no bad things about them other than slow and sparse emails.
You'll be fine. Hang in there. Nice engine!
Cheers!

MVVS 1.60
Hi Ultimate 40,
Do you know if you are getting the new MVVS 1.60 from them. MVVS changed the 1.60 within the last 4 to 6 weeks. The new ones have a graphite coated piston and I think a longer stroke. The gentleman I was in contact with has broken english, he said longer crankcase but I think he may have meant stroke. I also think the new 1.60 will have the tach port like the 2.15. The graphite coated piston is suppose to hold up to the heat better.

When he said that is had a longer crankcase what he meant is that the crankshaft is longer which allows to mount a spinner alot easier. The ignition was also updated also. I think that I read that is has a timing adjustment of + or - 2 degrees. I am waiting to one to come in stock to purchase for Tino out of Germany. Good deal too, right around 250$ shipped as long as mvvs didnt jack up the price along with the updates.

Topmodel Worked for Me...
My MVVS 1.6 gasser arrived today, 4/24. I ordered online on 4/6. Confirmed on 4/19, but it SHIPPED on 4/10. Total was $281.02, shipped air parcel to Oklahoma. Fired it up today after installing it, and it is everything folks have said. Right now, 2 tanks of fuel, turns a MA Scimitar 17x8 wood at 7300 !! And that is NOT a lean top end. Mine does not have the graphite piston, but the crankshaft is plenty long enough for spinners...

Just be careful of what you are getting. For $275 or so, you will receive the non-graphite piston and old version ignition, which has been known to go bad quite frequently. Also, if the engine breaks down or does not run properly, who are you going to deal with to get warranty repairs? MVVS America (Morris Hobbies) will not even touch the motors purchased in France or Germany, so think before you buy!

My MVVS Update
1st - Gregolot - what you say is true, but in this day of mass information exchange, a buyer SHOULDN'T be unawares. Yes, I have the non-graphite piston. Yes, MVVS in the US won't touch it. SO? Why would I ASK them ?
2nd - Performance is coming in now, I'm on my 3rd tank (nearly 2 + hours of run time! 14 oz tanks!), have leaned the top end a bit...Bolly 16.5 x 12 standard...today was SOLID 7850...that is a BUNCH on a K&S muffler ! The Bolly is about equiv load to an APC 17 x 12...

To aerobob
I posted this warning becasue I talked to MVVS North America and they told me that many people buying motors in France and England are very disappointed that these engines cannot be serviced by the folks in the US. I've read of people having problems with these motors, especially with ignition, so it does not hurt to know.

The Edge - Huh?
Because - the tenuous hold of the domestic market in many areas of our "game" is primarily based on the ignorance of the consumer, coupled with the fear of intimidation....I think the idea is something along the line of "You don't buy from us, you have no support - so you'd better buy from us!" I have NO problem with any reseller/distributor who chooses that strategy. It just means I have to be an "informed buyer" before I send my CC number!
Of course, it ALSO means that I better have a "Plan B" in mind...

That being said - I bought my two 1.60s from Just Engines. They offer excellent tech support and WILL handle any warranty/repair issues I might have. I paid $290 for each one, shipped. They took just over three weeks to arrive.
I called Morris regarding the 1.60 gassers. They wanted $440 apiece for the same engines, shipped to me. They don't stock them - there will be a three-week wait while they bring them in from the manufacturer. They don't stock parts either - same lead time. No we haven't run a lot of them, but we'd be real interested in hearing how it works for yuo.
ah, bollocks to it.

That's why I shouldn't post stuff at 2AM
Anyway, the problem with service on big MVVS motors from Morris (back when I spoke with them) is that they don't keep these engines nor spares in stock. For me there's no difference between sending an engine back to the UK or US for repair 'cause its going to take >3 weeks either way.
Perhaps Morris will take notice of this engine's growing popularity and start stocking and supporting them like their Euro competitors do. They might even be able to lower their prices a bit.
Besides - I feel that the $300 bucks I saved by getting my pair of engines from 'across the pond' speaks for itself.

I cant start my MVVS 1.60 Gasser... HELP PLEASE!
I hooked up the engine on a test stand, have primed it to feeling my finger wet with gas, turned on the switch and nothing..., checked the voltage on the ESV in the plug going to the module, and it cheks ok, i dont know how to check the module itself, but my arm is aching and i havent been able to start it. I think i did everything by the book, er, threads, and nothing. Can someone please assist me? What else do i need to check? Thank you, Pé or someone with this experience.....
