Has anyone used something like this?

That's a CRRC canister, it is quiet and will give a modest boost, about 300 RPM.... BUT, it's almost 16 inches long, about 1/2 the length of your plane and the header will melt at the bend under the heat of the DLE30 if held at full throttle for more than a few seconds. The header is also not adjustable in any way.

Jody,
Ihave found a way to make adjustable, however it may just melt the header? and make a mess of my handywork? maybe I should double the walls atoutside of the bends, or would I be better off with a flex header.I really dont care if I loose some power ( all up weightof my ultra stick 120 lite is just shy of10lb)I just want it not so loud

I can't tell what you made the header out of but run it and find out. In that application it won't hurt anything if it blows out, if you used some good aluminum or SS it won't. The only thing that I see that may cause you issue is the header looks to be about half the original length. You'll just have to run it and find out what kind of throttle response you get, if it has a spot that acts like a light switch you will want to add length to the header, the original length was very good.

If you need/want to you can add length with silicone heater hose from the auto parts store, .... hot glue? It may be moot, the sharp angles tend to lessen the effects of any tuning it might provide, gentle radius-ed bends are best.

Here are some photos of exhausts to try. The exhaust does not need to be tunned to a high degree. It just has to be so the exhaust can exit without loosing power. The DLE has plenty of power anyway. It may not be good to try to produce more power with it...because of longevity issues. The flex pipe header would be great...but welded at exhaust flange a various angles. Capt,n

I hope this works...a lot of hand built exhaust fittings. Not much invested...but time. Capt,n

I test run the Bud-lite exhaust today on the gorund. It really quites the exhaust note down...but has a neat sound of performance. I think in the air it will really sound good...but not loud. I will post a photo here of the stinger I made and placed on it. Regards......Capt,n P.S. The stinger is about 7/8 long with a ID of very close to 1/2 inch.

Had to go away today...not much done. I got to make a suspension bracket for the exhaust. Did run the DLE & new exhaust just a short time ago. It really sounds good and seems to have gobs of power on the ground. To tell you the truth...any exhaust has to be better that the stock "crappy box" you get with the engine. I cannot wait to fly it. Maybe tomorrow~! Capt,n some photos....added

Thanks for the info, Im excited, My BeeGeeR3 has a round hole in the bottom of the fire wall for the muff to go throw the body.

If you could please post your numbers with the pipe, and with stock junk muff on the same prop,

Also if you could do a little vid to put on youtube so the rest of the world can hear the music of your muff.

THanks mIKE
