Backfire, Broken Crank
My kids battery went kuput on his DLE 55, backfired and quit. Noticed some clicking noise up front after the battery was replaced. The tear down resulted with the crank shearing right at the prop hub. Had a spare crank, engines running fine. Never been wrecked, bought new in box, has 10 gallons through it. Never ran Lawn Girl, or was with a fat girl

Sounds like a warranty issue. A low battery may cause a backfire but the crank should not have broken . I have seen plenty of backfires for a few different reasons on many different engines over the years, but none ever resulted in a broken crank . I think there must have already been a flaw in the crank .

You know i agree with you, but I had a new crank, and I just didnt want the engine to dissapear for month. Id be willing to bet them schmuks from hobby services would deny the claim anyway. Ad the shipping back and forth and it easier to do it myself. Im waiting for my buddy bob kline to chime in because he witnessed the whole thing, and Im expecting all kinds of stupid remarks on this one.

It came from Tower. Id' like to mention that I have many DLE engines and except for crashes Ive never had one fail. I assume it might have been a bad crank to begin with. I had in ignition fail on about the third flight and hobby services denied it. Bit then again I had one bad right out of the box and they sent a new one. Now how did they know I never ran it. Go figure.
