Did you ask them to fix it or give you your money back?

I sent the engine back to Tower and we'll see what they do about it.

First off, Tower's website has NO INFO about returns anywhere on it. I called the main number and determined that once the item has been used it comes under Warranty repair which is handled by HOBBYSERVICES, not TOWER. Who knew? I didn't......
I called that number and determined that they (Hobbyservices) don't refund money. They repair or replace at their discretion. If I wanted a refund I'd have to go to Tower. Got the runaround....long story shorter, Tower will refund only for NEW and UNOPENED packages.
Otay then....the only way one can get his money back from Tower is for Hobbyservices to REPLACE the gizmo and ship an unopened package back. That package then must be sent to Tower in its pristine condition. And BTW- one has 30 days to do all of this
That my friend is pure BS, unadulterated Bovine Skat

I did not know that either until I bought the OS GT-55. Hobby Services is who I was dealing with on the GT-55, which is 99% of the reason I have an attitude towards OS gassers. For all intents and purposes, OS engines have no warranty because of Hobby services.

You do have a warranty. If you had not run the engine you have have been able to return it directly to Tower within 30 days, same as most companies.
Most companies, including DA will not give you your money back if you have used the item but will repair or replace it. Buy an engine fron Horizon and you will be treated about the same as Tower. However, if it is evident the engine was run lean you will be paying for replacement parts, which is only fair.
Buy something from DA and try to return it after 30 days and see what happens. You will be charged 25% restocking plus return shipping.

I see you used to have a SAP180 mounted there. Let us know the all up weight of the electric system and how many flights you get on the batteries before you notice a reduction in performance.

Yes, but, especially after the muffler failure above, I want to see 100 flights before I am sold.

What muffler failure?
Boy that video shows how quiet the stock OS 33 muffler is! Nice!!! Gobs of power too. Death to the DLE 30. Probably a DLE 35 in works as we type. Right Jody.

Death to the DLE30??? tisk tisk snigger snigger...
Its a bit like showing up to drag race, blipping the throttle and making a lot more noise only to have the clutch fail when the flag drops. The DLE may be (and I say MAY) less powerful but its proven reliability..., excellent value and light weight. Horse's ain;t anything if you carry too many spare wheels

RE: OS GT33 33cc gasser
It was mostly ignition related, it was very intermittent. Sometimes it would work, sometimes not, so I made this video where it would not start so all I did was swap the ignition to a DLE-30 box. I could never get Hobby Services to admit that.
http://youtu.be/weCuIb5370U
The front carb would drool gas into the cowling when choked, because they never thought that someone would mount the engine cylinder down in a plane I suppose. I had to replace the piston, ring and cylinder because even though I had the entire head and cylinder hanging in the airstream, it was not enough. I replaced it with a DA-60, s/n 0002 and it runs much stronger and weighs less. I did not change much and it has had zero issues in 65 flights, runs perfectly.

RE: OS GT33 33cc gasser
Went to the other site. Saw the photos. Muffler did fail but he's still happy with the engine and is the next poster. In fact the second poster said it is MUCH better running that the DLE!!! Time will tell but I bet OS will own this size until someone comes up with a new design. Looks like the aircraft structure is built very light around the motor box allowing more movenent. OS will have to strengthen the design for this type of installation in the future.
Anyone want a DLE 30 with less than a gallon thru it? SInce they are well proven and so great.

RE: OS GT33 33cc gasser
The DA-60 swings a 1 inch bigger prop (from a Vess 23A to a Mej 24-10 now) , and I changed the throttle servo location and choke linkage setup. I also had to cut the cowling more/different because the muffler is in a different location. The electronics, including the Rx, Syssa IBEC, LiFe batteries, Smart Fly, etc, is as it was with the OS. Eventually, I changed all my gassers (DLE-20, DLE-30, Syssa30, DA-60, DA-120) to Fiji water bottle gas tanks.

I have been using the double ended barbs on the cap and the single end for the vent. However, they have a new CNC machined cap that eliminates the plastic cap and the double ended barb fitting, very nice.

Here is the setup I am running on the DA-120/AJSlick. I used a brass tube and Viton for the clunk line.

I used these fittings on 2 tanks I've built so far for my 50cc gassers: [link=http://www.heliproz.com/prodinfo.asp?number=114882]Heliproz fittings[/link]. I used Seal All on the fittings and Fiji plastic lid; didn't use any other stoppers, cap, etc besides the Fiji cap. I can vouch for its toughness: I pancaked my 50cc Extra this summer, destroying the fuse, and breaking one of the fittings off flush from the Fiji bottle. It still didn't leak!
