Let's call it a senior moment
This may sound really stupid but I am trying to figure out if I have already mixed my gas with oil. I have a full gallon of gas but I can't remember if I already added oil to it. I use Pennzoil which does not add any color to the gas mix and I am wondering if there is a way I can test for oil or no oil. Here is the dilemma: if I presume it has oil and use it on one of my rc engines, I guess we all know what the end result will be, on the other hand, if I presume it has no oil and put it in my lawn mower I simply don't know what will happen. Any suggestions other than to discard the darn thing?

You can always test the gas by putting a bit of it on a white paper towel and let the gas evaporate. If there is an oil residue left behind, you had oiil in the gas. If no residue ... its plain gas.
Good luck.

Put 3 more oz in it and use it...You will like the way it runs..
We all know what the end result will be ?? Enlighten me....
We run 10% in our racers all the time, no ill effects at all...

And the winner is...no oil. I put identical amounts of the gas from my half full container (the one I have been using for the past few days) and the unidentified container on a paper towel. They both looked exactly the same color but one evaporated completely and left no residue while the other left a big stain of oil residue after evaporating. I am using a 32:1 mix but I guess it is not enough oil to change the color of the gas. Antique, what I meant to say was that if I presumed this gas had oil and it didn't, then we all know what it would do to the engine (no lubrication). Thanks to you all for your suggestions!

Ralph has it right. No engine will come to harm with the double amount of oil, and you even may like the results better.
Want to know how much oil?
Put a fuel sample in a small tin on your iron, and let the gas evaporate until smoke starts arising. The oil remains as a clearly visible drab.
Gas without oil will evaporate quite cleanly without leaving any trace.

I have mixed a lot of that air cooled Penszoil....it will color the gas a bluish green. You can see t the difference easy. Now if you are runing a DLE...the Ratio is 30-1 not 32-1. Just place 4 oz oil incontainerand pump in .95 gallon at the pump. Capt,n

Next time just dump it in your lawnmower can and just go mix new. Your lawnmower won't mind a bit. Or double down on the oil. Worst thing that can happen that way is a bit of buildup on your plug.

I use Pennzoil aircooled at 32:1 and it is BLUE. When mixed with gasoline, the gasoline is also blue.

yup it definitely changes the color of the gas ..... maybe if your color blind it doesn't?
