Default SPARK PLUG GAP

I cannot find the spark plug gap for my DLE20. I also need the same for a BME50, DA50 and 100 and a 3W100.

Thanks for the help.

Set them all to the thickness of a #11 Exacto knife blade. .020"

The spec is .5mm which is the same dimension

The DLE 20 runs significantly better gapped at .025". I believe that Valley View recommends this number on the DLE 20s as well. A friend at the field had a DLE 20cc, that always missed from half throttle on up. It ran fine, but always missed. He had the ignition go bad, they replaced it, and it still missed occasionally. He chased the needles up and down with no luck in eliminating it. I asked him his plug gap, he said .020", just like they said. I told him to try .025" and you would not have believed the difference. It no longer missed, and he swore it had more power. It did sound like it was pulling harder, but that is a bit subjective.

This of course was on a real CM-6 plug, Stihl Ultra oil and 4 gallons of gas.

As long as the ignition has enough voltage to jump the gap, the engine will always run better with a wider gap.

What is the reason for this? I presume a wider gap creates a larger spark? If so, how does that help? More complete combustion?

I've been telling people for a long time to increase the gap on these plugs to help eliminate the high speed missing.

A wider gap requires more energy, ie; voltage, to arc across the gap to ground. More voltage = hotter, more stable spark, make boom better. [8D]
