A new Zenoah 20cc gas engine.
I am still waiting for the Zenoah corp to get with the program and build a Rear induction 20cc gasser simular to the DLE only have even higher quality parts. They could use the Rxcell CD ignition and have the market on 20cc engines. Capt,n

Why. dont they have a 20 already? maybe not a rear carb, but still a 20.

A good reason why is.... a rear intake has reed valve induction that gives very outstanding torque. It could produce about 14 pounds of thrust, beam mounts and be easy to install. Not ony airplanes use these engine..so does all types of RC boats and cars, 4x4 trucks and Helicopters. Now if you guys want to shoot everything down...thats why it would not happen. The market is driven by demand for top notch items...but you guys are not helping in no way with the replies you make. You want something special....you got to let it be known. Capt,n

Ok, then why when I converted my DLE 30 from side to rear carb, both with reeds, as I'm sure you know, I didnt see any increase in power

Why you never saw any increase in power with the carb change is that even thought the original engine had the carb side mounted the engine was not a piston ported design as most side mounted carb engines are.

RE: A new Zenoah 20cc gas engine.
I can run my CNC crankcase reed valve GT 80 tomorrow to see if it made any difference...Right now is is using 445 cylinders and a DA 100 stock reed valve
With the DA 71 carb and C&H ignition...
I have another GT 80 with the stock crankcase and a crank with all the counterweights cut off to save weight...Will run this one with the stock carb and manifold setup...Should be interesting....

Antique is on the right track....he always was! Take care in this heat, and have fun with the engine testing. Capt,n

I asked Ralph that same question recently: piston port vs reed valve in all out power, throttle response/driveability be damned. Be interesting to see the results of what he's mentioned above...

11,500 rpm piston port GT80s don't lose in the USRA races.....
We're looking at a ZDZ 80 twin, could be a contender..
Nothing else so far has been close...

Thanks for setting me straight on that Ralph, but I was really talking about stock engines, not like your hopped up race ready ones.

RE: A new Zenoah 20cc gas engine.
I think people who know have told me reeds are better up to about 10,000 rpm....Piston port G26 marine engines run up to about 18,000...
Rotary valves are best of all....ZDZs Our ZDZ 210 rotary valve race engine is turning the same prop 800 faster than our piston port 289 Herbrandson, and is 4 LBS lighter...
This could turn into another oil type discussion []
