Default Adding Smoke to Pitts Muffler

I need some help...I have a J-Tec Wrap-around Pitts muffler for a DLE-20...
Question: Which side of the muffler do I tap..Closes to the Exhaust Port or
Further away from the exhause port..

Thank you,

Same as any other muffler. Close to the port. Pick one of the three narrow sides.

Isn't it better to have the smoke inlet at the top or sides of the muffler in relation to the exhaust port rather than on the bottom as, " Pick one of the three narrow sides" would suggest??

"Top" is relative to engine position at any given time. Just don't direct fluid straight into the exhaust port. If the inlet is close to the port it goes in the muffler and smolders regardless.
