Just the small OS .30 size. Have not seen anything bigger myself.

Default Wankel

Graupner did make a larger one, it cost about $1,600.00 USD.

Default wankel?

The .30 sized OS Wankel has the power of a .40, and uses a lot of fuel for it's size.

Can u give more feedback on the .30 Wankel OS engine ?

Overall performance, vibrations, noise, robustness, ... ?

Is it expensive ?

Default wankel?

I own a Wankel that is about 25 years old. When I used it, boy it was smooth, low noise and decent performance. Back then they were not that expensive. I picked mine up in Germany.

Mine was smooth and powerful. Some people say they are quiet but I didn't think so. I had the stock muffler and thought it was loud.

I had a flying buddy with one. It was powerful for it's size but quiet is not a term I'd use. It had quite a mechanical noise to it as well.

Also, remember that it ran quite hot. He flew the pants off it tho.

Check hobby lobby, they used to carry the bigger Graupner one.

The small os engine ran quite smoothly and was slightly quieter than a comparable .40. I ran mine without the muffler and was not noticably louder then my ASP .40 with muffler. Very low vibration. VERY thirsty......approx same power output as a .40 but drank like a .60. Also, VERY hot exhaust, similar to a 4 cycle glow engine. I used a smoke system on mine and just pumped the smoke oil into a short exhaust header.....worked just fine. I purchased that engine in the late '80s and retail at that time was under $225. They have gone up in price dramatically.

At the same time I owned a 1987 Mazda RX-7 turbo....also very smooth and high-reving but only got about 13mpg.

The large graupner engine was available only for a very short time...was rather expensive, and produced about 5hp.

Default Look at Erickson?

Check http://www.ericksonmotors.com/

It's not a Wankel, but from your post mentioning 1/5 scale, you might be interested. Completely different engine, with a similar shaped package.

Good luck,
Dave Olson

I like the looks of that one too, but I want to make the move into gas, glow fuel is almost 20 bucks a gallon here in jolly ole england (and I do like things a bit out of the ordinary) if i'm going to pay 1500$ for an engine, it's gonna be gas so I can afford to run it

thanks for the suggestion though, maybe i'll build my own? (after I put my self through a couple engineering courses!)
